When I woke up, my whole body felt numb. I opened my heavy eyelids. It felt like it took millions of years to open them but I quickly succeeded.

"Who's this?" I heard Hunter growl.

"My boyfriend! Isn't he amazing?" I heard another voice squeal. It was female.

"Mariana," He groaned. "Do we need to have 'the talk'?"

"No! I know already! So why are we here?"

"My friend."

"Name?"

"Saphira"

"So what's going on with you and this Saphira?"

"Nothing."

I groaned as pain jolted up my leg when I shifted to a sitting position. Hunter must have heard because he burst through the door in a blink of an eye.

"Are you okay?"

"Yep, better than ever" I put my sarcasm to use.

"Well that wasn't necessary" he snorted

The doctor walked in. She seemed about 34. Her auburn wavy hair fell down to her waist. She looked at me with her hazel eyes. What was odd though, was that she had a topaz necklace in the shape of a tree.

I shook it off when she said "Saphira, what's the last thing you remember? Do you remember the truck?"

I shook my head. What truck is she talking about?

"Uh huh... signs of memory loss..." she muttered the rest to herself when I picked through my brain to remember.

"Saphira, what do you remember last?" Hunter asked.

"Um... my dad came and I-"I stopped myself and picked the words carefully "I controlled the situation" I said slowly.

"Oh okay" he sighed in relief.

A girl walked in. "Is she okay?" she chirped. Her eyes were a dark brown and her black hair had baby blue stripes in it. She had a light tan that made her highlights pop out.

"Yeah just memory loss" Hunter whispered and stared into my eyes.

Another male walked in. His black hair covered his eyes and his almost black eyes pierced into mine. He looked sexy with his muscles and he seemed like a bad boy. Black bracelets covered his wrists which had faint scars on them.

"Hey," he said with no emotion

"I'm Damon"

"Saphira" I smiled politely.

"Move!" I heard a female's voice yell and she burst through the door.

"Saphira! Are you alright? Hurt?" she questioned nonstop. My jaw dropped. It was my sister, Arianna. I haven't seen her in years since my dad first raped me; I was only 5 and she was 13. She left me all alone with that... pig. The last time I've seen her was when I was turning six when he tried to rape her. She grinned at me with her grey eyes brightening.

"Hey sis" she whispered.

"You bitch! You left me alone with him!!" I screamed and sobbed. "Ever since you left I've been so alone!"

"I know... and I'm so sorry Saph, it was the biggest mistake I've made in years" her eyes darted towards Hunter.

"YOU!" she screamed. She pushed him against the wall and slapped him. "You're the reason my little sister is in the hospital!"

He pushed her away, not gently but not roughly, making her black hair come out of its sloppy bun.

"Do you think I'm enough of a devil to actually want her to get hurt?" he hissed

The doctor cleared her throat.

"Well Saphira seems alright," she looked at me "just get plenty of rest. Okay?"

I nodded and she motioned for everyone to get out of the room.

Everyone followed the order though Hunter was hesitant.

The doctor looked at me and smiled with tears in her eyes.

"Um... are you okay?"

"You grew up so much Saphira" she whispered and her Spanish accent made it sound like saffira with her tongue rolling at the r.

"Excuse me?"

"You don't remember do you?"

"What?"

"Saphira, I'm your mother. Real." She smiled.

"What the hell are you talking about?" she sighed and explained.

"When you were born, there were people coming after our family. Our kind. Our kind controls the elements, and a few rare ones are physics."

"Oh... so that's why the water..." I trailed off as her face recognized what I said.

"Here," she gave me a cup of water.

"Lift this up" she smiled.

I closed my eyes and felt power rush through my body. It was so bizarre because I felt the water in my veins. I imagined the water coming out of the cup into a ball.

"Good" I heard her whisper. She took the cup with me still concentrated.

"I have the power of earth." I opened my eyes and saw a ball of water floating in front of my eyes. She waved a hand over the cup and dirt magically appeared inside the cup.

"Pick a flower and color" she said

"A blue tiger lily and purple orchid" I smiled.

"I said one, but okay." She said laughing and waved a hand over the cup again and soon put her finger in it to move the dirt. She put the cup under the ball of water floating and said to me.

"Gently flow the water in the cup, and into the soil. Imagine it, feel the water rushing from your body to the soil, smell it, taste it" she explained.

I did so, though the water splashed a little roughly into the cup.

"Good. You still need more practice." She looked at her watch.

"Well, we should hurry, they might get worried." She offered a hand for me to get up. Painfully I succeeded. She noticed me wince because she scribbled a prescription on a piece of paper and handed it to me.

"Pain killer" she smiled and waved a hand towards my clothes.

"Change quickly."

I did so.

"I guess this is goodbye" she whispered and pushed a strand of blonde hair away from my eyes.

She awkwardly kissed my forehead and slowly walked out of the room.

"Wait."

She turned around

Shyly I added: "When can I see you again? And I want to practice more" I smiled.

She walked towards me and held my hands.

"Close your eyes and think of a thick brown book with a symbol of all the elements on it. Feel and smell the leather cover" she ordered

I did and suddenly I felt a heavy book fall into my hands. I gasped and dropped it. Quickly, she caught it and snapped so a vine popped out of the room's window. Outside it was only glass. She put the book into the vine and slowly it went away.

"Where is it going..?"

"Your home."

"So when can I see you again?" I asked anxiously and added

"So we can practice and you can tell me everything about the past and people who control the elements?"

She grinned and revealed perfect white teeth.

"Meet me at Southbridge park at 12 pm Wendsday"

She went to walk away again when I yelled

"Wait"

"Yes?"

"What's your name?"

"Evangeline" she smiled and walked out without me calling her.
