If I was honest to myself I don't think I had it in me either Adonis was the first person I had actually spoken to The first person I had gotten to know
"I should get going" I said "Why?" He asked "Adonis, don't go acting desperate for my company" I teased, moving to crouching down so I could look him in the eye "I'll be fine" I assured
"You'll be better with us" he said "Us or you?" I asked "Both" he finally said "Why do you care?" I asked "What?" He asked
"You keep saying you care. Why?" I asked His eyes searched mine for an out But I didn't give him one I wanted to know
"I... I don't know" he said I smiled, leaning in and kissing him slowly He didn't react Until I grasped his jaw in my hand, pulling him closer, earning his hand to find my hair
Before I slowly pulled away "Trust me. I'll be fine Adonis" I said, standing up "Just..." he grabbed my wrist "Call me. Tell me you're alright" he said

Fuck. Why was I comforting her? Begging her for assurance that she was alright.
I needed to get a fucking grip And hope she'd be alright And convince Enzo to tell the fucking truth.
• A week later •
A whole fucking week. And we haven't seen her Haven't heard from her She didn't fucking call And I was left in the dark. Not knowing if she was alright
It was like the last week had been limbo
"She'll come around, once she finds something out" Enzo said "That's really all you care about?" I asked, I was sick of his attitude "No. But as far as Valencia's concerned, she is providing us with information, nothing else" he said
"Nothing else? She's Athena's daughter" I said angrily "Keep your voice down" he warned "Enzo" Alora interrupted, entering the office with her laptop
"Yeah?" He asked "I may have something" she said, sitting down and showing us her screen "I looked into her background. Nothing, but once all this care home stuff has come to light. I looked into the guy who 'adopted' her" she explained
Before a photo of an old man appeared "Roan Mossgard. A retired 'mechanic', he's the one who filed all the paperwork and legally adopted Valencia" she explained Roan.
"So who is he?" I asked She shrugged "Since his retirement ten years ago, he hasn't been legally flagged since. He fell off the grid money wise. No banking, no taxes, nothing, it's like he's a ghost" she said
