If Vaggie had to define herself with only one word it would be: observant, and she was always expectant to every little detail that happened around her, so it was to be expected that she noticed all the changes that occurred in just a week and a half.
The Hotel continued as usual, with ups and downs but with the doors open for anyone who wanted a chance to redeem themselves, and of course, after the last extermination many joined them but also left when they realized that the issue of redemption was something very complicated compared to how Charlie made it look with her intense explanations and, according to her, her fun exercises of trust and emotion regulation. Of course, not everyone was going to think the same way she did but she had to admit that those options did work. And perhaps even more so would the new exercises the princess was designing according to her readings.
And of course, she was proud of her girl. Always pretty, optimistic and ready to help everyone.
Though sometimes she could be quite clueless about certain things like what was going on with Alastor.
Partly she understood that she was not aware of it due to the current events that had the whole team in awe, and Lucifer was more than in love with the little baby that was now part of them. Not only was he in charge of making him laugh and prepare his bottle, he also managed to calm his cries (which had decreased in intensity), rock him every time he realized that the child needed attention and give him a new rubber duck with a different design every day so that he would begin to differentiate them when it came to play.
Of course, Charlie was delighted with all of this and more so because she claimed that her father was finally healing old wounds that he had not allowed himself to express. The others were also taking their time to share with the baby, who already seemed to recognize each one of them.
Yes, all was peace, harmony and fun.
But...
Alastor was different.
At first she thought that perhaps it was just her sense of distrust towards the radio demon, however, his actions, however subtle they were, did not go unnoticed by her. The problem was that she did not understand them and did not know whether she should try to do so or not.
His gestures differed from his actions.
Even if Charlie put a blindfold over her eyes where she could only see the image of Alastor taking care of his son with too much love, things were different. They had been since he showed up at the Hotel with the child in question. A child he didn't give as much importance to as he was supposed to.
And it should be noted that things stayed that way until exactly that week and a half.
Alastor not only continued to ignore the little boy, now he seemed to want to avoid him at all costs. Always with the excuse of his duties as host of the Hotel and his business as supreme lord. Although for some reason he always took Clauneck with him at bedtime, even politely refusing when one of them offered to sleep with the child for the night so that he could take care of his nightly duties.
It was as if the night brought out his protective side.
Or well, that was what she observed.
And she wasn't really the only one.
Lucifer had also kept abreast of Alastor's actions in those days that had passed with the difference that far from making him curious, made him angry. What kind of father acted that way with a baby as precious as Clauneck was? Besides, the poor baby was always making some noise to get his attention or stretching out his short arms to Alastor when he passed him in the hope that he would carry him, which never happened.
