It was yet another starless night in the Dark Forest.
No wind danced around the leafless branches, and no light except the blood-red moon gave the clearing an eerie glow.
Shadowy creatures slithered across the murky water, their eyes flashing in the gloom. Anguished shrieks tore the silent clearing, ripping at the air like talons of falcons.
Some pleaded, some raged, yet it was too late for all of that.
This place was the black hole of the Force, where the victims were stuck for eternity.
A cat limped onto a jagged pile of rocks, brittle yellow eyes narrowing to slits as he scanned the desolate atmosphere.
His once ivory-white fur was ragged from wading in the foul water, and a crystal gleamed on his forehead, blood-red like the dying sun.
It must have been some time since he'd been here because the memories of his life were growing distant each day.
Yet there was one that stood vividly in his mind.
The meaninglessness of his entire dedication.
The agony he felt as he drowned in his own blood.
But mostly, the icy smile on Lightningstrike's face as he watched his dying spasms.
A snarl curled the ivory cat's lip, his eyes smoldering with rage.
He'd never been the true apprentice.
Seersight, the Clones, Sagepelt... All his struggles and sacrifices had been for nothing.
He'd only existed because of this.
This.
To be the first victim of Deadsoul's wrath.
Claws of red flashed and dug into the ice-hard stone, sparks of flame crackling along with the acrid tang of smoke.
It was no use regretting his decision; he could only blame himself for all of it when he left Dawnclan.
Yet it wasn't like he'd had a choice. Everything he'd believed and fought for had all fallen apart.
He'd only wanted to restore what was right for his clan and cleanse the corruption clouding the knights' spirits.
The white cat vanished in the gloom as he walked away, deeper into the shadows of the withered trees.
He could have been so much more.
He'd died to be remembered as a villain, a terrorist, not as the savior of the Galaxy.
It didn't matter, he was stuck here, forever.
