On the next day, April woke up feeling tired, she hadn't had a good night with everything that went off, and she wished that none of that had taken place last night, but nothing would have happened if Catherine had told her the truth from the start.
She didn't know what to do next, but got dressed and held the sceptre, without it she would have never figured out that she was the heiress of the kingdom, she now didn't regret what happened because again she saw Catherine as a traitor and went down to the hall.
She didn't know what was happening with either, Tanya, Dairon and Livian.
Were they all mad at her?
Well, they shouldn't really, if they were in that situation she felt like they would do the same.
When she arrived at the hall Cassidy was already waiting for her. "Hello. How was your night?"
"Restless." April answered.
"I understand. This wasn't an easy night. But don't worry."
At that moment Tanya walked into the throne hall. "April, we need to talk. Right now."
"Tanya, I don't think you should talk to her like that." Cassidy said.
"Cassidy, I'm pretty sure I wasn't talking to you, or I would be-"
"Shut up, Tanya. Princess or not, I don't like you talking like that to anyone, no matter which way it goes I'll be asking you the same. What do you want?"
"April, you were upset yesterday, you may have said things you didn't mean, but it's never too late to set things right. Recall your decision. Bring back Catherine and Aaron."
She felt a little tingle in her hand, the one where she held the sceptre but again no one could foresee what was happening to her, she didn't understand herself.
"I regret nothing. It was Aaron's choice to leave with her. Catherine can stay out of Valeria, I will not think back on my decision. My conclusion had already been made."
"You don't understand. You don't know how much Catherine means to me."
"Tanya, I don't think I can..."
But April couldn't finish her sentence, she was cut in by the shriek of some bird which was flying from a distance. The three of them quit their talk and ran out onto the balcony.
A large swarm of birds flew above their heads.
A few of them were flying above the old oak and the town of Valeria.
And then, right in front of them, one of the birds stopped on the railing and Ember came off it.
"Hello. We meet again." Ember adressed them all.
"What are you doing here?" April asked.
"I came to take what belongs to me. Give it to me and then I'll leave Valeria straight away."
"What do you want?"
"Why, the sceptre, of course. Give it to me and no one gets hurt."
"Like I'm gonna hand it to you. You're taking what's mine by right."
"Belongs to you? No. The sceptre has no owner."
"But I inherited it. Only I can use its power."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Of course I am. Catherine said..."
"Catherine? And where is she, by the way? Oh, wait. I know. You banned her from her homeland." Ember said.
