But what Rudy didn't know was that all along, Liesel loved him, too scared to show how she felt, she kept it hidden.
LIESEL POV:
I can't believe that saurkel! Not only did he break my heart, he blames me for Emilie not liking me. I ran upstairs into my bed and cried. I couldn't help but cry after everything. I woke up in a tear stained mess and papa sitting beside me, stroking my hair smiling his usual stupid grin. I sat up and hugged him. Silent tears dropped from my eyes. "I love you papa."
"I love you too Liesel." I smiled and got up as papa went downstairs when mama called him, rolling his eyes as he did so. I giggled and decided to fix my self up. There was a pretty lilac dress, hanging on my closet door. It was a gift from mama and papa when I first arrived. I slipped it on,falling smoothly into place. Undoing my hair ties, I brushed my hair and decided to leave it down for a change. My little box sat on my beside table, I unlocked it and pulled out a locket ,the chain short and dusty. I wiped the dust off and put it over my neck. Perfect. Somehow I felt better and more cheerful. I felt slightly hungry so I stomped down the stairs to the kitchen. I reached out for a piece of bread .
"Hands off , you filthy saurkerl!" Mama screeched, slapping my hand. "In half an hour , we are going over to the Steiner's house for dinner." My heart nearly stopped. Oh no! This means I have to be with Rudy the entire evening. "Can I go on a short walk mama? I'll be back in time for dinner, I promise."
"Fine and if you're are a second late.." Mama warned.
"Yes mama," I said running out of the house. I walked down to the river and sat there, watching the birds splashing through the water, as the sun slowly crept downwards through the sky, inching it's way towards the trees.
