Jennie sighed as she brushed another strand of wet hair away from her face.

The rain was relentless, as if attempting to exacerbate the misery she was going through at that moment.

It had been an hour, maybe an hour and a half, since she arrived at the street of where the mansion was. However, She couldn't bring herself to alert the security and step inside just yet.

Instead Jennie sat on the sidewalk a few houses down, letting the cool rain soak her head to toe, welcoming the harsh cold as any distraction from everything else.

In the heat of the moment she hadn't been able to process a lot, anything really. It was all so sudden, and all so surprisingly unsurprising that her senses drove her to a flight response.

And so, she ran. She ran until her heels began to sting her feet, and then slowed down to a walk before she reached where she was at the moment.

But the more she sat down, and the more she thought about it, it didn't add up.

Nothing did.

As much as she'd like to believe it and find an easy answer and response to everything, create an object of hate to take her emotions out, she just couldn't.

Despite the rather tumultuous past months, one thing Jennie was sure of was that she had truly managed to get to know of the Taehyung past the school rumour mill.

And after all that time spent together, his actions didn't align with what she knew of him.

At least with her.

He'd always been honest, though annoyingly so sometimes, yet still always honest. He'd never given her a reason to doubt, nor had he been anything short of supportive.

So it begged the question, what actually happened?

She knew that there was one easy way to answer the question: respond to his texts.

But no matter how much she tried to will herself to do so, she couldn't bring herself to pick up her equally as soaked I phone and call him back.

After the past hectic couple of days, weeks, this moment alone prompted her to do nothing more than sit and ....think.

As the rain slowed to a drizzle, Jennie's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching.

She tensed, fearing confrontation or worse, pity.

Turning, she expected to see a curious neighbor or perhaps a late-night walker.

Instead, it was Jimin, his expression a mix of concern and cautious distance.

"Jennie? Why are you out here all alone? It's pouring," He asked, his voice barely above the sound of the rain.

"I needed some space, some air," Jennie replied, wiping away a raindrop that trickled down her cheek, trying to sound more composed than she felt.
