"Ugh, where is she?!" Gina questioned groaning loudly, pulling out her phone and checking the time. It was past three in the morning and her shift at Déjà Vu's Gentleman's Club ended more than fifteen minutes ago.
The area she worked in wasn't ideal for any woman to be out hanging around late in this part of the city, Los Angeles. But for Gina, she could handle herself, she carried a taser with her every time she went in for a shift.
Gina stood up against the front of the building with her duffle bag a small suitcase and her purse she held on tightly to her taser gun preparing for something to pop off, but it never did, she never had to use it once her whole time working there.
She looked around at all the people loitering in the parking as they vibed to the muffled songs from inside engaging in their own conversations, smoking.
Seconds later a familiar cherry-red Cadillac pulled up with low tunes of The Sweetest Taboo by Sade playing Kehs claimed to be in her smooth jazz era. Gina let out a sigh of relief hoping that Kehlani didn't forget that she promised to come pick her up.
"Finally!" Gina eagerly said grabbing her suitcase handle and walking fast to her ride.
Kehlani waved for her with a small smile on her face she was still giddy from an after-party she was invited to.
"Okay!" Gina let out a small giggle jogging with all her baggage. She cheesed ear-to-ear, happy to see her best friend after such a big night.
Her smile slowly faded when a truck came onto the scene and ran straight into the driver's side of the car. Leaving the Cadillac like a crushed can of Coca-Cola.
The truck quickly backed up and drove away while the front rear barely hung on dragging against the pavement.
Gina let out a scream as if she were in a horror film. And it was her time to get killed off. She dropped all her belongings falling to her knees as tears left her eyes. Not able to move she sat there rocking herself back and forth.
"No" she quietly sobbed; her breath harbored; her lips quivered. Gina stared at the broken glass on the ground she couldn't bring herself to look up at the site of the crash.
Her high emotions blocked out all her sense of her surroundings. Not realizing workers and consumers were out asking if she was okay and what happened.
Not long after the police and the ambulance were on the scene. She watched as both departments scattered across the streetway closing it off as well as prohibiting any more people from access to the club.
"Please don't let this be..." she cried; her cracked voice pled holding her hands together as the image of the accident replayed in her head. An image she would have a hard time forgetting like it was engraved on her brain... like a suppressed memory
Without being able to see Kehlani before being taken to the hospital. The police gathered all the witnesses getting every single detail. She couldn't remember anything or if she saw something the others hadn't.
