Clyde
The princess and I rode in silence as we headed to the castle where the Royal Family once stayed. She must be feeling nervous, as this is the first time she will be meeting the Higher Council, the ones in charge of managing and leading Andalusia ever since the Soccorians attacked.
She was fidgeting and looking out the window the entire ride. Sensing her anxiousness, I spoke.
"You're gonna be fine, princess." I said trying to reassure her.
"Thanks, Clyde." She said with a small smile, worry still etched on her face.
A few minutes passed and we've finally stopped in front of a tall and large rusty gate that led to the castle.
I helped the princess as she went down from the carriage. She was wearing a light pink off-shoulder dress that Inez picked for her. Her hair was styled with a braid that looked like a crown on her head. For now, she was wearing comfortable shoes as she complained the whole time about her feet after wearing heels during the ball.
Before we entered the gate, she managed to speak.
"Do I look okay?" She asked with a troubled expression.
"You look like a princess, princess." I said smiling, trying to cheer her up.
She smiled and exhaled as she started to walk towards the gate, and me trailing behind her.
The castle looked very old and rusty, but not abandoned. Ever since the feud with Soccor started years ago, this place became a meeting place for the higher council and a training ground for the remaining soldiers of Andalusia.
Today, it was quiet because the soldiers were given a day off their training, so that only the Higher Council, me and the princess are here.
We passed through damp brick walls with lit torches on the side, then climbed the stone stairs leading to the tower where the Higher Council are. We walked towards the bridge connecting to the tower. The bridge only had pillars supporting the roof, so one can see the whole view clearly from below, as one passes by.
We were walking when the princess suddenly halted. She went near the brick handrail.
"What's that?" She pointed to a winged creature resting below the Oak Tree.
Looking over to the direction she was pointing, I replied, "Oh..That's a griffin-" I paused.
"-must be Master Corin's ride, one of the Higher Council." I added.
"Griffin? That's the magical creature of Pagos right? She asked, turning her head towards me.
"Yes, princess. That's correct." I answered.
"Griffins are powerful. They have the strength of a lion because of its body, and good eyesight because of its eagle eyes."
She just nodded her head and continued walking slowly while still admiring the griffin.
"Have you ridden in one?" She blurted out.
"Yes, princess. When we transported you from Earth. We used a griffin." I answered as a matter of factly.
She stopped in her tracks.
"So, you're telling me.. that I was able to ride a griffin, but I was asleep?" She looked dumbfounded after learning the information just now. And after how many weeks.
I guess I'm in trouble.
"I-" I stuttered. But she butt in, "And by the way, Clyde, you haven't even told me how I got here or how my family on earth is doing. They're probably worried sick or think I'm dead!" She started pacing back and forth, her eyebrows arching, worry starting to creep in again.
