The bell rang, signaling the end of another mundane day at Willow Creek High School. Alex gathered their books and made their way through the crowded hallways, trying to blend in with the sea of students rushing to their next class. As they turned the corner, a flash of vibrant red hair caught their eye.
Standing by the lockers was a new student, Riley, with a confident smile and an air of mystery that seemed to draw everyone's attention. Riley's presence seemed to light up the hallway, and Alex couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement in their chest.
"Hey, you must be Alex, right?" Riley said, extending a hand in greeting. Alex nodded, feeling a blush creep up their cheeks. How did Riley know their name already?
"I'm Riley, I just moved here from the city," Riley continued, their smile never faltering. "I heard Willow Creek High School is where all the cool kids hang out. Mind showing me around?"
Alex's heart raced as they walked alongside Riley, pointing out the different classrooms and sharing tidbits about the teachers and students. Riley listened intently, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
As they reached the courtyard, Alex couldn't help but steal glances at Riley. There was something about him that felt familiar yet completely new. And as the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the school grounds, Alex knew that their world was about to change in ways they never imagined.
