Jungkook didn't allow himself to despair, even for a moment. Clutching the letter in his pocket, he rushed outside. She didn't go, she couldn't go far. He must stop her. How will he live if he doesn't do this?
There was movement all around. The teachers learned that she had disappeared and sent the students to look for her. So she probably deactivated her power. It's still on their radar for now, they can't use it until he gets far enough away. He will catch up with her. He will catch up with her and protect her from the whole world. He will run away with her to the end of the world. Just please come back to me.
Jungkook was running around like a madman. Despite his excellent condition, he felt that his heart was about to burst and that he was out of breath. Out of despair, not exhaustion.
He stopped for a moment, collected his thoughts. He ran west. In the direction where the sun can be seen the longest.
He made his way through the forest, heedless of anything. His clothes were torn and there were scratches on his face. He tripped once and blood oozed from a cut on his leg, staining his pant leg. But he didn't stop. It wasn't far to the school boundary. He had to give it his all because he wouldn't be able to catch up with her.
And he has to do it. They weren't good to her. Her mother kept her sheltered and the entire school rejected her. They didn't look at her, they wanted to use her. Objectify. But he knew they wouldn't be any better. That the Wind and Earth have intentions and desires worse than them. They won't let her be herself either, they won't take care of her. They will make her do terrible things because she has spent her entire life with them. The worst thing is that he won't be on the other side. He won't be able to watch over her or defend her. He won't be able to see or feel her.
Before the sobs escaped his throat, he held the most important thing to him in his arms.
They fell to the ground together. They looked at each other, not believing that they saw each other. Jungkook couldn't believe that he had her, that he had succeeded.
"Jungkook," Windy said.
This body and this voice. Saying his name softly. He didn't need anything else.
"Let me go, please. I have to go"
No, no, no. I will not give you away. I'll do everything for you. I will take care of you and your happiness. Trust me. Out of breath and in shock, he couldn't say a word.
He helped her up from the ground. He touched her face with his hand. "You're not leaving, are you?" He asked finally.
Windy responded by hugging him tightly. She buried her head in his neck and inhaled the scent of ash. Warm and strong.
"Thank you, Jungkook," she whispered, hugging him even tighter. They both hugged each other as if they didn't want to be separated despite the world. And yet.
"I'm sorry," her voice cracked, Jungkook felt a green wind fill the empty space in his arms.
He looked around. He was abroad. He wasn't the one who caught up with her. She was the one who waited for him.
...
This is where we end the flashback and return to modern times. The moment when, after the fight with the Winds, Jungkook saw the Windy in front of the car. Unfortunately, only for a moment, because she ran away again.
I hope you had fun during this extended flashback :)
