614.Manoban Family Luncheon

Thus, the actual members of the Manoban family did not treat this group of outsiders well.

Chongshan as well as Hong and his wife overheard Jennie's whisper. A hint of smile appeared unanimously across their faces.

Somi, however, clenched her fists tightly. She had planned to lead Jennie into mistaking the Manoban family's elders so that she would humiliate herself. Why did things appear to be moving out of her control...

A maid approached and bowed respectfully. "Lunch has been prepared."

Chongshan nodded sternly. "Let us all head there now."

The group of them stepped into the Manoban family's dining room. It was connected to the Manoban mansion's enormous living room.

A large Chinese-style round table was placed in the centre of the dining room. A rotating tray was placed on top of it with various exquisite-looking dishes.

A lot of thought had also been placed in their seating arrangement. Elder Chongshan took his seat first. Hong and his wife then took their seats by his side. Next, Lisa, Huang Zhishu and Somi took their seats.

Jennie deliberated over her own seat as she watched them. However, Lisa had already tugged the chair next to his. "Jennie, sit here."

She obediently took the seat he offered.

Somi was coincidentally seated directly across from her.

Chongshan glanced at Somi and Jennie's clothes with an insightful gaze. He then spoke to Somi with some unhappiness. "Somi, pay attention to what you wear in the future. Don't wear the same type of clothes as your future sister-in-law. Outsiders may view this as a sign of disrespect to her. You were too immature this time."

These words were especially pleasing to Jennie's ears.

Somi's future sister-in-law. In other words, Grandfather Manoban approved of her relationship with Lisa.

As expected, Lisa's relatives were just as wonderful as he was.

This time, Somi's eyes reddened genuinely. She spoke up in grievance. "Grandfather, I... I didn't know that Miss Kim would wear this today."

It was clear from the way she addressed her that she did not acknowledge Jennie's identity.

Chongshan naturally noticed this. However, as jennie had yet to marry into their family, he allowed her to do as she pleased. "Do your best to avoid it. Do you understand?"

"I understand." The more compliant Somi behaved, the more enraged she felt on the inside.

Huang Zhishu watched as her daughter suffered a grievance. She was similarly angry but pretended to remain unfazed.

She had taught Kai and Somi that the more they wanted from the Manoban family, the more they needed to keep their desires hidden.

"Grandfather Manoban, you're so adorable." Jennie could not help but praise him.

She sighed internally and struggled to understand why she addressed such an adorable elderly as an 'old peasant' in her previous lifetime. She had immediately offended Lisa's parents. Since then, she was completely isolated in the Manoban family and only had Lisa on her side.

Thankfully, she had the opportunity to prevent the same event from repeating itself.

"Nonsense. How could you describe someone as stern as me as 'adorable'!" Although Chongshan reprimanded her, he did not appear to be unhappy in the slightest. Instead, he seemed to enjoy her words. The more he looked at Jennie, the more he was satisfied with her.

Jennie smiled without responding.

Kai then stepped through the doors to enter the Manoban mansion. He smiled gently to greet the elders. "Grandfather, Second Uncle, Second Aunt, Cousin, Mom."

Huang Zhishu nodded lightly. Aside from her, no one responded to him.

He was used to this. He tugged his chair back to sit by Somi's side. "Cousin informed the entire Manoban family to be present at lunch. I couldn't possibly be absent for this."

He did not look at Jennie. This was because he knew that the ones who held the Manoban family's power did not like him.

Right now, he did not have the ability to go against them.
