Chapter 14: "Hello, love"

Amelie couldn't remember the last time she felt so tense. She was Amelie! She didn't feel tense for God's sake!

However, sitting down with Stefan and Damon, watching her sister about to tell them that one of the oldest, most powerful vampires was after them was a little... nerve racking.

Maybe more than a little.

Yvette, however, seemed to not care. How was this so easy for her?

She seemed calm, almost at peace. Like she'd already reconciled with her decision. How?

Yvette was going to do it... as long as Elijah was still on her side, she would kill Niklaus.

But, for now, she'd have to tell the Salvatores about the impending danger they would face.

"Stefan, Damon, how have you been?" Yvette asked.

Damon glared. "You guys left with little to no warning and I go back to the tomb and Katherine's not even there!" He yelled. "Care to explain yourselves?"

Stefan sighed. "What he means is, are you guys ok? Why did you release Katherine?" He asked, trying to be calm even though he was agitated.

Yvette gave Stefan a small smile before she spoke. "I made a deal with her... to save my sister."

Confusion washed across Damon and Stefan's face.

"What— what do you mean by that?" Stefan asked.

Amelie kept looking outside through the windows, not wanting to participate in conversation yet.

"Have you ever heard of Klaus Mikaelson?" Yvette asked simply.

Damon chuckled. "Only the biggest, baddest, oldest vampire in the world."

"Not exactly, but basically," Yvette told him. "Well, I thought he had my sister."

"How did he get her?" Stefan wondered aloud.

"You know the new vampire that Bonnie convinced you guys to let stay? Rose?" She continued when the brothers nodded. "Well, her brother kidnapped her."

"And you want her to stay?" Damon asked, not believing her words.

Yvette nodded. "You don't have to understand why. She's suffered enough, Damon."

Damon said nothing as a reply, so Stefan spoke up.

"I don't get it, you guys were gone longer than Caroline and Bonnie."

"Stefan... uh, that's because we were debating whether to tell you two something." Yvette responded.

Amelie squeezed her eyes shot when she heard her sister's words.

"What?" Damon asked.

Yvette sighed. "The real reason Katherine is here is to sacrifice Elena, Caroline and Tyler to Ni— to Klaus." She looked at Stefan sympathetically. "And there's nothing you can do about it unless we work with Elijah, his brother."

Amelie sighed, her eyes still closed.

"To kill Klaus." Yvette finished.

Amelie opened her eyes. "I need some air." She rushed out of the room after saying that.

"What's wrong with her?" Stefan asked.

Yvette shrugged, even though she knew exactly what was wrong.

"I'll go check up on her," Stefan told Yvette and left the room. His mind was reeling, still trying to process everything Yvette just told him.

Damon and Yvette looked at each other, but neither said a word.

After about two minutes of silence, Damon's voice was heard. "And then, there were two."
