Reece Richardson, CEO of RR Bank stepped into his office, his head in the clouds.
He paused and smiled when he saw his childhood best friend already waiting for him with a bottle of his favorite wine in hand.
"You bastard!" He chuckled, walking over to the other side of the couch his boy sat.
"Did I tell you, or did I not?" Charles Fisher, Director of Fisher holdings, smacked his friend on the thigh.
"Man, I didn't expect for this deal to go so smoothly. The biggest deal we've ever closed in this damn City!" He cackled with excitement. "We should definitely celebrate."
"Why'd you think I brought this wine?" He said.
"You're a good man Charles. I'll tell my secretary to get us some glasses." He said, going over to his desk.
He grabbed the phone and dialled for her. He had just returned to the couch, when Avery Adam walked into the office, holding in her hands a tray with two glasses on it.
"Good afternoon sirs. Here are the glasses you asked for." She said, setting the table.
Reece, and Charles exchanged a look. In that little time, a conversation was had. You could tell from the sudden heat in Reece's eyes, he had it hot for his secretary.
"Thank you Avery." He said, as she straightened up.
"I wanted to congratulate you for closing the deal. I know how important it was for you." She smiled shyly, showing off her dimples.
Six months into the job, and she was still so shy. He knew people that didn't have half her looks, strutting the world with so much confidence. Yet here she was in all her stunning glory, driving him insane with every show of coyness. Unknowingly teasing him, when she knew he was not a free man.
"Thank you again, Avery." He returned her smile with one of his, and she felt her heart palpitate greedily.
Six months ago, she had met the most handsome man in the world. Fresh out of school, she had been desperate for a job. He was the only one that trusted her enough to hire her, despite how inexperienced she was. Now she was head over heels for a man she could never have.
"Wait." He called as she turned to leave.
"Sir?" She turned around, her heart thumping again.
"I want you to organize a party to celebrate the successful deal tonight. Get in contact with the client to see if they'll be available tonight. And Avery, you're coming too." He said, just Incase she had the idea it was only for the staffs in higher positions.
"I'll get on it now sir." She said, and hurried out of the room.
"Damn! She's gorgeous." Charles whistled the moment she shut the door.
"Hey, don't even think of it." The smile in Reece's eyes quickly disappeared.
"Why? You're the taken one. Last time I checked, I'm a free man." He said, opening the bottle of wine.
"I'm not saying it for my sake. It's for hers. We both know you're not the kind of man a girl like Avery needs." Reece said, his voice fighting to stay as neutral as possible.
"Sure----" Charles gave him a suspicious glare, just as the bottle popped open. "That's more like it!" He cheered, quickly grabbing a glass.
He poured into Reece's, and then his. "To a deal which is going to bring in more money, and even better connections."
Their glasses clinked, and they downed the wine in one go. "Too good!" Charles smacked his tongue.
"Aren't you glad I put you on?" Reece asked.
