Since I was five years old, I grew up on a grain of rice, life was so hard after my father threw us away, no, just me and my mother.  Living with a mother who tried hard to keep me alive.  Begging, pleading with a strange man to give her some money and in return, she would do what she could. We lived in a dark alley on the edge of town, until my mother found an old house where several mice lived.

Time passed very slowly, two years after all the difficulties, when I was seven, my mother burst into tears.  My heart hurt when I heard that, I ran to see her who was sitting hunched over from the doorway.  I slowly approached her, and touched her shaking hand gently.  My eyes were full of tears "Mama... I love you, what makes you sad ike this?" she was silent as she noticed my presence. Then she saw me, looked at me and smiled. "No honey, I'm just scared, I saw a bigger mouse than usual" that's what she said, I knew it was a lie.

A week passed, my mother and I went to a shop.  My mother bought me clothes, but my mother's clothes looked very shabby.  Some stationery went into the shopping basket, she said "You have to be a successful and become a rich person, and step on the bear's mouth which is still open until now" I didn't understand what mother meant, there was quite strong resentment in her words.  Now, I live life like other children.  I go to school, life starts to get better, we live a little more decent life.  However, I rarely see mothers eating, even when we eat together, she eats different foods and looks inappropriate.

The years went by with similar things, but I noticed something, my mother's movements were not as active as usual.  Today is the first day that I set foot in high school, My mother is not working as usual.  she said she was given time off by Mrs. O'dannel.

After breakfast I said goodbye and went about my activities at school with a uneasy heart, for some reason I felt like I wanted to go home, my stomach, my head, my body, it felt very uncomfortable.  When the bell rang, I immediately rushed home with caramel bread that I had left for my mother, because today was her birthday.  When i arrived at the front of the house, Mrs. O'dannel knocked loudly on the door and spoke a little harshly and cursed at my mother.

"Mrs O'dannel?  What's wrong, ma'am?" I approached her immediately.

"You shabby!  Your mother isn't working today, tsk... she begged me to give her a job, but what do I get?"  I was confused by her words.  I opened the door and called my mother and went to her room.

"Mama... there is Mrs. O'dannel, don't you have a day off today?"  I put the bag on the edge of the bed, trying to wake her up, who soundly sleeping.

"Ma..." I shook her shoulder, but she didn't move a muscle. Instantly my heart felt like it had been hit by a big hammer, slowly and with shaking hands I grabbed my mother's neck.  I didn't feel anything, just cold.  My world collapsed, I was unable to accept this reality, and suddenly the light disappeared very quickly.
