I stared with utter shock. I stared at her bleeding body down on the rocks beneath the cliff. I stared until my vision became blurry as my eyes were filling with tears. She was gone. My Faith was gone. My body suddenly filled with rage as I stood up and turned around. I sniffed and wiped away the last couple of tears. I looked up and Torin’s eyes met mine. I snapped.
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!? WERE YOU REALLY TO FUCKING BLIND TO SEE HOW FUCKING TERRIFIED SHE WAS OF YOU!? WERE YOU TO BLIND TO SEE HER BACKING AWAY, HEADING CLOSER AND CLOSER TO THE CLIFF!?” I yelled.
“I-I’m sorry I was just a-angry.” Torin stuttered, clearly surprised with my sudden rage outburst. I chuckled.
“Oh! You were just angry, huh? WELL SAY THAT TO MY FRIENDS WHO’S NOW LAYING DEAD ON A PILE OF ROCKS WITH NO WAY FOR US TO REACH!” I yelled again. I started sobbing again. Torin tried to hug me, but I pushed him away.
“No… not after what you did. I LOVED HER GODDAMNIT!” I said. Torin looked shocked.
“Y-you loved her?” He repeated. I nodded.
“Yes, you idiot. I loved her while she was crazy about you.” I said. Torin gulped.
“I thought… Oh my… I thought you liked me. Just as I like you.” Toriin said. My eyes widened. God, I should’ve expected this.
“All I ever did was reject affection from you, which I, by the way, thought was platonic.” I said.
“Platonic?” Torin asked. I rolled my eyes.
“Just as friends.” I said. I sighed.
“You are an asshole. I should’ve known when I first met you.” I said.
“I don’t wanna see you again.” I added. Torin’s eyes widened.
“W-what? Come on, Ruby! I-I can help you! We went into this together, right?” He stuttered.
“NO! I went into this with FAITH! You’re only here because SHE wanted you to. SHE wanted to go into this together. I just wanted some alone time with her while we saved my dad! I never wanted you here! And I still don’t want you here!” I said. Torin looked sad.
“Please Rubes…” He said. I looked him dead in the eye.
“Don’t you DARE to call me Rubes. The only person who could do that was Faith.” I said.
“I-I’m sorry. I just want to help.” Torin said. I looked behind him and saw a scared Bo and Mo. I signed from them to come over. Bo jumped into my arms and Mo, clearly not understanding our situation, reached up to Torin to pick him up. I looked at the little Mogwai in his arms, being totally happy. I sighed.
“Fine. You can stay. Only because Mo likes you. I don’t, and I repeat, DON’T want to talk to you. Understood?” I said. Torin turned into a happy puppy and nodded.
“I understand. I mean-” He made a closing-a-zipper motion in front of his mouth. I sighed and saw that the sun was rising. I laid one last look on the rocks where Faith laid.
“I will come back for you.” I whispered. Torin and I walked back to the campsite and packed our gear. I sat Faith's stuff against a tree near the cliff and we, against my will, left. We were officially on our way to Archdale Castle.
