As a child, I would often sneak out of the palace at night and wander the streets of Lyon.

There was something magical about the city under the moonlight, the way the cobblestone streets glowed softly and the sound of laughter echoed through the alleyways.

It was in those moments, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the night, that I felt truly alive.

I remember the thrill of adventure that coursed through my veins as I tiptoed through the narrow streets, careful to avoid the watchful eyes of the palace guards.

Every corner held the promise of discovery, every shadow whispered secrets waiting to be uncovered.

It was always the quiet moments, the ones spent alone in the stillness of the night, that I cherished the most.

I found peace in the hidden secret gardens that dotted the city, places untouched by the prying eyes of the outside world.

There, beneath the canopy of stars, I would lose myself in my thoughts, my imagination soaring free like a curious bird in flight.

Those nights were my beautiful escape from the confines of palace life, a chance to be something more than just a princess bound by duty and expectation.

In the quiet of the night, it felt as though I had the freedom to become anyone I wished to be.

Although, everything seemed inexplicably achievable under the cover of darkness.

Chapter Five: The City That Never Sleeps

The city stretched out as far as the eye could see, a glittering mosaic of lights and shadows that seemed to go on forever.

"Do you like it?" Ren asked, her voice soft as she stepped out onto the large balcony, her stare pinpointed on me while mine remained on the city below.

I nodded, unable to tear my gaze away from the mesmerizing sight before me. "I love it—I've never seen anything quite like it," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

Ren hummed to herself as she leaned her arms over the smooth edge of the balcony, "What's your life like in Lyon?" she asked, queuing me in that she wished to know more about me.

Especially after bringing me to her penthouse, which felt incredibly intimate.

It felt like the air had suddenly shifted between us.

Time seemed to slow down, and every breath felt charged with a new energy, a clear tension hanging in the air.

The silence was thick, filled with unspoken words and hidden emotions, enveloping us in its embrace.

It was as if the universe itself held its breath, waiting for what would come next in this delicate dance of words and glances.

"It's um..." I hesitated over my words, not exactly wanting to reveal my status, but also not wanting to lie to her.

Luckily, before I could piece together a response, Ren's phone buzzed in her pocket, the sound cutting through the stillness like a knife.

With a sigh, Ren reached into her pocket and retrieved her phone, glancing at the caller ID before answering.
