Okay, so I'm working on two stories at once, sometime I get bored with just the one.
I feel that this one is more interesting and more for the people that are like fans of Blood and Chocolate and whatnot. Enjoy.
I sat at my window, the mid-winter breeze felt like ice through my damp hair. I heard howls coming from the woods. Yep that was my family. Hunting; I figured. Sure, I like running, but getting covered in blood and guts just isn’t my thing. I’m a lycanthrope or werewolf. And by saying family, I meant the wolves. Some are very distant relatives, I don’t really talk to them, but they’re still family. It was a full moon, but the urge to change just doesn’t come anymore. I’ve been trained to do this stuff for about fifteen years. My father was the dominant male, but died after losing the battle for supremacy to the all great and powerful, Dimitri. Sarcasm intended. He’s really a jerk, why everyone likes him, I have no idea.
“Taryn, I’m back,” my mother called from downstairs.
Yes, my mother Eryn. She’s also in ‘love’ with Dimitri. She walks around with him and flirts with him. It’s disgusting and frustrating. I walked downstairs, my mother was there holding up a rabbit by its twitching foot, with a big cheesy grin on her face. She’s a beautiful person. Most of the females in the pack are, yet the guys vary. We all have the same stunningly green eyes and varied hair colour, mostly black though. My mother and I bother have the same waist length brunette hair and heart shaped faces as well. You could tell we’re related.
“I brought you some rabbit if you’re still hungry.”
“Mum, it’s not dead.”
“Oh, woops.”
I grabbed the rabbit from her and looked at it, then her in disgust. Its eyes were slowly rolling back and it started feeling a little cooler than blood temperature, signs of death, the poor thing. It was starting to make me feel sick, so I put it in a freezer bag and then chucked it in the freezer alongside a few birds. We aren’t usually violent, but I really only seem to have so many dead things because my mother seems to think that it’s nice to bring back stinky dead animals, that have been unnaturally killed.
“Sure, the freezer will kill it,” my mother said as I walked off.
I walked up the stairs of our brightly coloured house. I have the biggest room in the house, mainly cause I’m the only one that’s usually home. I got a few text messages on my HipTop, but I didn’t bother replying to them. I looked around my room, at all the pictures of me and my friends, stuck to the walls. After that I just lied on my bed and finally drifted off to sleep.
My alarm went off. Argh, that noise is so annoying at 6AM in the morning. I got changed, did my hair and makeup and then walked downstairs.
“Out to rob a bank, are you?”
“Mum, it’s just black. There’s nothing wrong with it.”
“Get changed,” she ordered me. I didn’t move. “Now,” she told me.
I stomped back up stairs and waited until I heard her leave, this meant I was late. I grabbed my bag and ran out the door. I started running down the street, then Smack! I ran right into my best friend. His name is Taylor Gray. He looked at me with his unusual bright blue eyes; it’s basically unusual because he’s the only one in the pack with blue eyes. It’s kind of freaky, but over time everyone has gotten used to it I guess.
“Hey Tar, why the rush?” He asked me as I finally stopped laughing.
“I’m always late; my mum keeps telling me to change out of these clothes.” By this time we were walking towards the school.
“I think you look awesome in those clothes, love the ‘My Chemical Romance’ shirt by the way.” I looked down at it, it had the band name between a full set of teeth, but with vampire-like canine teeth. It was my favourite shirt.
We got to school as the bell went. He told me he’d see me at lunch as usual as we walked off in our separate directions. I made it to my first class and got a lecture on being late, as usual. It happens most of the time and most of the time it’s the same lecture. The class went by slowly, so I decided to grab out my drawing book and started drawing instead of taking notes on something about history. She didn’t notice and the bell finally went for lunch.
Miss Mackenzie, could you please stay behind, I need to talk to you,” the teacher yelled of the loudness of everyone packing up.
Oh god I thought to myself.
“Now Taryn, you are late almost every day, you keep disrupting my class and then I have to give you that lecture.”
Oh, so she does realize that she’s giving a lecture.
“I’ll try not to be late again,” I sighed.
“If you are late on Monday, expect a detention.” I nodded and walked out the door towards where the rest of the group/pack sat.
I sat down feeling kind of out as the rest of the pack spoke about last night’s hunting trip. Seeing as I hadn’t actually joined many trips, since Dimitri started leading the pack, it was kind of hard for me to do that, without y’know, insulting the hell out of him. Kind of like how in Cinderella, she hates the step mother…yeah like that kind of hate, yet I’m not even closely related to him.
As soon as I sit down, Lila, the most gorgeous girl in the pack, like literally gor-ge-ous, comes up to me.
“Hey Taryn, do you have any food, I kinda forgot my lunch,” she asked.
I put my hand into my bag, and, oh lord. This next bit was not expected. I pulled out the dead rabbit in a freezer bag. Everyone’s eyes are wide and open on me. Holding a dead rabbit. The upside was it had stopped twitching. And as soon as the awkward silence had started, the pack broke out into a fit of laughter.
“Thanks, but, no thanks,” Lila said, trying not to explode into a laughing fit. You could see it all over her face. Her chocolate brown hair and green eyes automatically contrasting with the red covering her beautiful oval face. I feel my face start to go red, and everyone pointing and laughing. I look down and close my eyes; I know I will never be able to forgive my mother for this one. I feel someone come and sit next to me, and arm goes around my back.
“Y’know, it’s not as bad as it seems, laugh with them, don’t let them laugh at you,” I heard a familiar voice whisper in my ear. I look up and Taylor was sitting next to me. I feel a wave of relief as soon as I look into his beautiful, blue eyes. I smiled in response, but looked back down, grabbed my back and just left. I don’t know what made me do it, I just left.
I decided I needed to go for a run. I ran to some bush land just east of town and chucked my bag on the ground. First, I paced around in circles, almost pulling out my hair in frustration; I then just fell onto my knees. I couldn’t help it, I really couldn’t. After a while, I just stood up and started running, over logs, weaving between trees, in the beautiful forest, the wind in my hair was simply incredible. I then started to edge forward, and the next thing you know my body had transformed. The thing following that was that I fell flat on my face. I blacked out for maybe 5 seconds and the next thing I hear is another dog huffing, or giggling, I wasn’t quite sure. I looked up to see Taylor standing there. Only recognizable by those eyes. I spat the dirt out of my mouth and got up, looking at my paws…so close to the ground.
I considered the likely hood of that happening, so I had to follow you I heard him say to me, by telepathy of course. I huffed and started to walk off. I wasn’t mad at him, I was mad at me. I heard him start to call my name; I turned around to see him put a shirt on. Of course he would change back, you always miss him change though. I’ve seen it once, so quick and smooth almost supernatural…well more supernatural than what we were. He was different and we all knew that.
And although he was calling out to me, I kept on walking until I got home.
So whatcha think? If I get resposes, I may post the rest, there's some twists in the story.
