He stepped into the building, hopeful.

A new team, a fresh start, and a few questionable teammates.

What could go wrong?

Parkins was looking over at the men he'd be working with, seeing two that stood out. They were both tall men, though one was taller. One wore a mask adorned with a skull and stood at around 6 foot 3. The other was tanner, wearing a mask covering half his face. His hair was dark brown and around shoulder length, and he was about 6 foot 4. He had a flag on his uniform that Parkins didn't quite recognize. It seemed familiar, though Parkins wasn't sure. He looked over, and Parkins saw the scars that marred the left side of the man's face.

If that was the part of the scarring he didn't cover, Parkins didn't want to know what was under the mask.

Somehow, over the next week or so, he got closer to this man, finding out his name– or, rather, callsign– was Spider. Parkins was in his quarters, writing a few things in his journal before hearing his Lieutenant's voice.

"Parkins! Fuck are you doing?" Spider barked from the door.

"Coming, lieutenant!" Parkins hurriedly replied, shutting his journal and standing up. He quickly grabbed his gear and left with the rest of the team. The mission that followed went well overall. Parkins got injured pretty badly, but they got the intel they'd been trying to get, and there were no casualties. Parkins was in the infirmary, writing down some notes in his notebook. Small details about the mission, the time, where he was now, when the door to the infirmary opened. Spider. Out of instinct, Parkins started apologizing for rushing in without looking first and not following orders. Still, Spider just put his hand on Parkins's shoulder and pulled him into a hug, which Parkins hadn't expected.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again," Spider said. Had Spider been scared for Parkins? Spider was one of the team members who was never really scared. He was less emotional and more closed off, so it was hard to imagine him actually being scared for another person.

Spider almost seemed like he felt guilty for something.

Parkins just didn't know what.
