"Hey, sweety." Mingi gently stroked the baby's cheek with his fingertip, feeling how soft the baby’s skin was. His smile broadened, revealing a face full of happiness behind his tear-filled eyes.

His baby.

His child.

His family.

Mingi finally had someone who wouldn’t leave him or push him away.

He could hardly believe it, after nine months of enduring everything, he was now blessed with boundless joy by being shown a sweet baby born from his struggle. The baby looked healthy, and Mingi truly hoped the reality matched. All that filled Mingi’s heart and mind now was his baby. There was no room for anything else. For the first time, he felt light, as if there had never been any sadness in his life. Mingi was happy.

Yunho smiled as he watched Mingi interact with his baby. For a moment, he was silent. Mingi worked in the sex trade. But now, he had a baby. There was no way he would ignore it for his job. Yunho’s inner voice urged him to do something, which his own mind then agreed with.

“Mingi?” Yunho stroked Mingi’s hair, making the one being called turn to him again.

“Yes?”

“Who do you work for?”

Mingi blinked, uncertain whether to answer or not.

“I won’t report this to the authorities, don’t worry. I’m the one who assured your safety, right? I just want to know,” Yunho said, sensing Mingi’s hesitation.

It might not be a problem, Mingi thought. “Leedo,” he answered briefly.

Yunho nodded slightly. Leedo. He didn’t need to remember more to know who Leedo was. Jongho’s habit of hiring several sex workers made Yunho aware of the business owners he frequently hired. And the name Leedo was one of the most easily remembered.

“How did you end up working for him?” Yunho asked next.

Mingi sighed quietly. He had never shared this with anyone, hoping Yunho could keep his secret well. “I don’t have any family except for my uncle. Because I focused on work from a young age, I had no friends. My uncle was angry with me when he found out I was pregnant. He blamed me, even though I didn’t want to have a child. My uncle asked me to have an abortion, but I refused.”

From here, Yunho understood one thing. Mingi’s pregnancy wasn’t due to his work. But for another reason. And judging by how Mingi explained it, Yunho concluded that Mingi was a victim of rape. However, he didn’t show much reaction. He just didn’t want to make Mingi feel judged.

“Eventually, my uncle kicked me out. At that time, I was attacked by some people because I was caught stealing food. That’s when Leedo came and saved me. He also offered help. He said he would provide me with a place to stay if I worked for him.

“Leedo explained that it was sex work, but I had no other choice. I had a baby to give birth to and care for, and I couldn’t do it without money. So, reluctantly, I took up the job as... well, a prostitute. From there, I’ve managed to survive until now.”

Mingi sighed deeply, as if releasing the heaviest burden. He had prepared himself for any negative reaction to his honesty, but what he received was only a gentle stroke on his head. He saw Yunho, who was lying beside him, smiling.

“From now on, I want you to quit your job, okay? I don’t want anyone to defile you again.” Yunho settled himself on his king-size bed.

“But...” Mingi blinked in confusion. “If I quit, what will Leedo—”

“Don’t worry. I’ll talk to him.”

Mingi wanted to be skeptical, especially of someone new. But every word Yunho spoke sounded reassuring.

As if swept away, he finally just nodded in agreement.

Yunho’s hand gently wrapped around Mingi’s waist.

“You said you don’t have family, right? Then let me help build your small family. You, your baby, and me. You can add Jongho as a brother-in-law if your grudge against him is over.” Yunho ended his statement with a chuckle.

While Yunho focused more on his own jest, Mingi paid attention to the first part of his statement about building a family. Luckily, Yunho was quick to pick up on this.

“Mingi, try to explain this to me. Is it strange for someone who has never felt empathy or loved anyone in their life to suddenly feel compassion for someone working in a shady business and even help with his childbirth? Is it strange if someone suddenly falls in love because he saw someone give birth in front of him?”

Mingi was silent, not knowing how to respond.

“If it’s strange to you, then I hope you understand because I’m in love with you.”

Yunho pushed aside Mingi’s bangs, tucking them behind his ear.

“I know it’s too early for you. Maybe it is for me too. But I won’t take back my words. I will strive to be the family you’ve needed all along. To be someone you’ve always wanted.” Yunho closed the distance between them, their noses touching.

“I will take care of you and your baby. I will look after you, making sure you are safe and comfortable. This is your home now. And I just need to wait until you are sure that I will never disappoint you.”

Mingi allowed Yunho to pull him gently, bringing him into a soft kiss that made Mingi feel like a new person. Yunho’s words, his embrace, his kiss—all made Mingi experience complete comfort. His hands slowly returned Yunho’s embrace, sinking into the warmth.

This time, Mingi truly felt safe. As if he was certain that no one would ever hurt him again. In Yunho’s arms, Mingi felt the thing he had always wanted.

He felt like he had found a home. A home that would always be a place to return to when there were problems. A home that would protect him from the evils out there. And with Yunho’s promise, Mingi began to see various lights in his life. His future would be just fine. He, his baby, and Yunho—a happy little family.

“Thank you, Yunho.”

**THE END**

Because Mingi deserves happiness, tenderness, warmth, comfort, and so much love :3
