(Jeong Hana)"Oh gosh... My vision is slowly fading, I should probably go get a checkup sooner or later" I mumbled while looking at the mirror with a displeased look.
(It's your fault Hana for studying too much until you went cross-eyed!!!) I thought to myself, imagining a bubble filled with the texts inside my head.
I stayed silent for some time inside my room filled with crumbled paper, and left over chocolate from last night. Asking myself if I made the right life decisions,
When I suddenly heard a knock on my door."Come in!" I exclaimed with curiosity.
"Really?" I felt my jaw drop hearing that soft, honey-like voice and those bright amber eyes peeking through my bedroom door.
"Ha-Yoon!!!" i jump with excitement towards her, squeezing her in my arms as I felt her soft and long black hair running through my fingers. I almost died from shock!
(Jeong Hana)
"So what brings you here?" My mother asked as she placed her cup of tea on top of the newly built coffee table.
"Of course I'm here to visit my dear aunt" Ha-Yoon replied smiling, posing her arm in a position where her bracelet wouldn't go unnoticed under her floral sleeve. "For what else purpose if not to visit. Right? Hana?" She turned to me, smiling as if there's no tomorrow.
"O-oh! Yes! Of course-" I answered stuttering by the sudden head turn. (Has Ha-Yoon always been this way?) some awkward thoughts filling my mind.
They continued having their conversation exchanging the same questions and replies back and forth over and over again, that I got bored and went back to my room to study.
When I opened the door, I switched off the lights but kept the door open.
(Gosh... I really didn't expect Ha-Yoon to visit this early. From what I know she announced that she would make a visit next year or sooner...)
"Eh, but I guess it's better to be early than to- never come..." I blankly stared at our portrait from when we were kids, unconsciously smiling at the sight of us chasing the sun knowing damn well we were never going to reach it.
I laughed out loud remembering those lovely memories we made in the early days of our childhood. I sighed in frustration and eventually fell asleep in my chair with my books currently open.
(Ha-Yoon, will you last for a month?...)
[Early in the morning]
I opened my eyes, still so nauseous.
"Ah!" I yelled upon seeing the sight of Ha-Yoon wearing a skin care mask that can make your skin look and feel better if worn overnight... (Ack..! Why do I still remember that?!)
"Your still scared of me using a skin care mask? I thought you've grown up into an intelligent, and strong woman?" Ha-Yoon laughed out loud.
"Tsk. Don't tease me like that, it's just you look so different with that thing on." I pouted crossing my arms in an irritated manner.
"Okay fine, I'm sorry I just came here to wake you up for breakfast since you should be awake right now according to your daily routine" Ha-Yoon explained with a confident look.
"How'd you know my daily routine?" I questioned her.
"it's up there right beside your doorway, actually I'm quite shock to learn about it. Your routine is quite extreme for a 19-year-old like you" She respond which left me dumbfounded.
"Oh right,i totally forgot." I admitted.
We just laughed it off and she left after patting my head, exaggerating my messy hair with her same bright smile.
I let out a loud sigh as I forced myself to get up for breakfast. (did I sleep for 9 hours this time? Well it totally feels great) I went to get my slippers before reaching for the brush to fix my hair. I felt relieved to feel the brush slip through my hair and smoothen out the split ends.
"That feels exquisite" I commented. The sight of me flashing as I turned to look at the mirror.
"My eyesight is the opposite of splendid" I scoffed.
(should I get go to an optometrist today? I mean, my schedule isn't full so maybe I can make time to get a pair of glasses.)
"Thats a great idea..." I mumbled.
After talking to myself for quite sometime in spite of my physically and mentally drained body, I decided to stretch my arms, wiggle my legs, press my joints, and crack my head.
"That felt awesome!" I nod and posed a thumbs up in the sky awkwardly smiling.
I was feeling myself, dancing around and talking to the birds who wished not to talk to me, singing lullabies, and practically enjoying the weird side of me. Not until I heard someone exclaimed from downstairs.
"Get down here this instant Ha-na! The warmness of the food isnt going to last forever if you don't eat it immediately!"
When she pronounced my name in syllables I can't help but laugh and be overjoyed by the hilarious nickname that doesn't even serve as one.
I rushed downstairs to view what kind of food did Miss Floraine prepare this time, and I was starstrucked to see my favourite wagyu steak cooked medium rare for me to enjoy!
"Is this what they call 'rich privilege'?" I said in a joking manner as I sat down across my mother who had already start eating her food. But she was rather, presumptuously slow in chewing down her food.
I didn't mind it and digged in, showing my gratitude to those who prepared this lavish food, with every bite I take. By the time I finished eating a realization crossed my mind. (I should at least ask or let her know that I'll get glasses for myself) I genuinely thought of it for a while.
"Is there something you want to let me know?"
(Ah,... Yes I forgot of how observant she is)
"Well, I'd like to go to an optometrist later today to go get my eyes checked, sorry for the late notice mother but I am experiencing poor eyesight. Even right now I can't see your face very well."
I explained briefly, waiting for her response."Is that so? Then you must get glasses to keep up your academic achievements" she responded, not batting an eye as she arose from her seat to leave for work.
I chose not to look in her direction and left to get ready for my trip to the optometrist to go get new glasses. Though I'm a bit bumbed out, I'm still filled with excitement about this quick trip.
"New glasses here I come!"
