Charlotte’s POV
It’s the next day now. I glance over to see that it’s 8:25 am. Ethan is passed out next to me, snoring. Surprisingly, I found really comfortable clothes in Engfa’s closet – a Halloween pajama pants and a Mickey Mouse hoodie.
I can’t stop thinking about the kiss. I’m slowly starting to give myself to someone again, and that scares me, but I’m trying.
I hear voices outside, so I slowly get out of bed. Quickly washing up, I make my way out. When I enter the living room, I see Nudee and Chompu hovering over a sleeping Engfa. It’s freezing in here – Engfa wasn’t lying.
Engfa is wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. She has the hood on, and her right hand is over her face.
“What are you guys doing?” I whisper.
“Shh, we’re trying to scare Engfa,” Nudee says.
“Yeah, want to join?” Chompu asks, but I shake my head no.
“If you want to scare someone next time, don’t be so loud,” Engfa suddenly says, which startles all of us.
“I hate you,” they both say and head to the kitchen. It’s just me and Engfa now, but she still hasn’t moved from her spot.
I go and sit next to her, and she moves, peaking from under her hand. “How do you always look so beautiful?” she mumbles half-asleep. I chuckle and move her hand to press a kiss on her cheek.
“You’re freezing,” I say when my lips touch her cheek.
“Mmm, more kisses,” she says, ignoring what I just said.
“Come on, get up. Go take a warm shower so you don’t turn into a freezer,” I suggest.
“No, I’m tired,” she responds and moves, now sleeping on her stomach. I sigh and let her be for now; I’ll come back in a little bit to try again. I go towards the kitchen to see her three best friends cooking something. They turn around and look at me, and Chompu has wide eyes.
“Did she give you that hoodie?” Nudee questions. I’m confused about why they are asking – weren’t they paying attention when I saw them earlier?
“Umm, no, but she said I can grab anything from her closet.”
“That’s her favorite hoodie,” Chompu informs me. Well, too bad because I wasn’t planning on giving it back.
“Yeah, she never lets anyone wear that hoodie or drive her Porsche – those are the two things she never shares.”
“Oh, really? She let me drive her Porsche,” I say while moving towards the stove to see what they are making.
“WHAT?” all three of them say at the same time.
“Oh my god, that little piece of crap! I’ve been asking for a whole year now,” Chompu says.
“I don’t believe this; there’s no way. That Porsche is like her baby,” Tina jumps into the conversation.
Before I can answer them, Engfa walks in. She still has her hood on. “What’s all the shouting about? I’m trying to sleep,” she mumbles and pouts. I can’t help but want to grab her face and kiss the pout off her face, but I control myself.
“You let her drive your Porsche?” Tina asks.
“Yeah, what about it? It’s just a car,” Engfa answers casually. “I’m gonna go take a shower because I’m freezing, and stop shouting,” she adds and walks out.
“That girl is head over heels if she let you touch her Porsche,” Nudee says, laughing.
“She’s been through a lot; don’t break her heart, please,” Chompu adds.
“I would never; my feelings are as strong as hers. We just have to sit down and talk about it,” I say, and all three of them nod. I sit down at the table and watch the three.
“So, Tina, how was sleeping with Heidi?” Nudee asks, but Tina throws a bacon at her and doesn’t answer the question.
Heidi is a lot to handle, but they seem to have hit it off, so we’ll see. On cue, Heidi walks in and sits down next to me.
“Where’s your super-rich daddy?” she whispers. I hit her shoulder. “Don’t call her that.”
“Why not? She’s obviously rich, and I’m sure she’s a daddy in bed.”
“What does that even freaking mean?” I whisper-yell.
“You’ll have to figure that out by yourself, but I’m jealous you found a good one,” she says.
“I mean, that girl looks at you like you’re the only person that exists in the whole world. She is head over heels, and you’ve only known each other for a month. Imagine how amazing she’ll be as time passes,” Heidi adds.
“I don’t know, Heidi. I’m scared; love scares me now.”
“I understand, trust me, I do. I don’t want you to ever be in a situation like that again, but Engfa seems different. Just give her a chance; it literally seems like she would do anything if you just ask,” Heidi says with a chuckle.
“I will. I really want this to work out,” I say. “But I don’t think she would do anything for me,” I add a bit louder, which causes Chompu to turn around.
“Oh, yes, she will if she let you drive her car. Then she would do anything for you,” Chompu says.
“We should test her,” Tina teases.
“How?” Ethan questions. I didn’t even realize he was in the kitchen.
“Engfa hates, and I mean hates when people ask her to go out and get them something. So why don’t you ask her to get you something after she’s done with her shower?” Nudee declares, looking at me.
“Umm, but that would be mean; I don’t think I can do that.”
“Okay, okay, how about this? Engfa loves strawberry milkshake, so why don’t you ask her for a milkshake? That way, she’ll get something in return too,” Chompu suggests.
Before I can answer them, Engfa walks in. Her hair is wet, and her eyes look a bright brown. She’s wearing another pair of sweatpants and a black t-shirt.
“Hey, Fa, so we were just talking, and Charlotte was telling us how she’s craving a milkshake,” Nudee says, and I went to protest, but Heidi puts her hand on my shoulder and looks at me with pleading eyes not to say anything.
“Oh, really? I could go get you one if you want,” Engfa says.
“No, it’s okay; I’m good.”
“No, no, I’ll go get you a milkshake. What flavor?” she asks.
I feel bad now, but okay, maybe they were right. “Umm, chocolate.”
“Alrighty, since I’m going, I’ll get everyone else milkshakes. What flavors do you guys want?” Engfa asks everyone, and they all tell her, and she leaves.
“See, I told you,” Chompu says while laughing.
“She didn’t even think twice about it,” Nudee adds, also joining Chompu in laughing.
“That was mean; I feel bad now.”
Don’t, now we know how much she likes you.” Tina says.
“I mean, I was literally super sick like two months ago, and I asked her a million times to go get me medicine, and she didn’t,” Nudee lets us know.
Everyone breaks out into laughter, and I can’t help but join. Then, after a few seconds, we all start setting up plates for breakfast.
Fifteen minutes go by, and we hear the garage door, which means Engfa is back. She walks into the kitchen holding all the milkshakes and trying not to drop them.
She puts them all on the table and gives me mine.
“Oh, I got all of you guys spare keys to my house. Just please don’t show up every second like the three musketeers do,” Engfa says and passes all of us a key.
“Engfa, you know if you don’t want Charlotte, I’m always here,” Heidi says and winks at Engfa, which causes her to laugh.
I walk out of the kitchen, and Engfa follows behind me after she grabs her own milkshake.
“Thank you; you didn’t have to go,” I say as I sit down on the couch.
“I wanted to; you can ask me for anything, and I’ll do it.”
“I can see that,” I say with a chuckle. I take a sip of the milkshake, and we’re both looking at each other. I lean in and gently peck her lips. She grabs me gently by my neck and deepens the kiss. I can taste the strawberry flavor milkshake on her lips.
“Go on a date with me,” Engfa says after we pull apart. I went to go answer her but remembered something.
“Well, you know how I told you my dad is back from his business trip,” I respond, and she looks at me confused but nods her head.
“He kind of figured out that we might be more than working partners, so he made me promise not to go on a date with you until he meets you,” I say, which causes Engfa to pout.
I quickly kiss her lips, and she smiles a little bit. “Okay, alright, when?” she asks.
“You can come over for dinner next Friday,” I reply, and she nods. The room is silent now, and we’re both looking at each other.
“You know that’s my favorite hoodie,” Engfa breaks the silence and says.
“Yeah, I’ve been told; sorry to tell you, but you’re not getting it back.”
“Mmm, it’s okay; it looks better on you anyway,” she says and leans in, but before she can kiss me, we hear Chompu and Heidi’s voices coming towards the living room.
“We should have a movie day,” Heidi suggests, and everyone walks in behind her.
“Okay, I’m fine with whatever,” Engfa responds, and I nod. We all quickly get settled on the couch and start a movie. For the first time in a long time, I truly feel happy
