A girl strode into the room. Her long dark braids streamed down her back and her flowing emerald dress wrapped around her slim waist perfectly.
She passed by, leaving a sweet scent of roses on her trail.
Sean continued talking but I could not hear a single word he said.
Her fine, dusky skin was the pure essence of her being.
On her neck; laid beautiful diamonds.
Her alluring, dark eyes sparkled beneath the chandelier.
Over her, I swoon.

"Andrew, are you still with me?" Sean asked, trying to capture my attention.

"Yes. I am, what were you saying?" I essayed a smile. I searched for the mysterious girl in the crowd but I could not find her. He continued telling me about his day, which at the moment - I had no interest in.

Quickly, the night died down.
Fate had her way and I saw not a peek of her again. I decided to take a stroll in the garden - away from all the noise.
The dry night air sent a euphoric feeling to my chest.
I walked around the neatly placed bushes and took a moment to just...breathe.
The dark sky was studded with stars.
An echo of eerie sounds sent a chill down my spine.
Being consumed by the creatures of the night seemed much better than standing through another minute in that house.
I was suffocating.
I walked deeper into the garden and saw a silhouette of a girl, standing under the moon.
The girl seemed familiar, her slim frame and long hair.
My face brightened when I realised that she is the same girl that I had seen before.

"Fancy meeting you here..." I uttered. She jumped in shock when she heard my voice.
I took a step closer towards her, at last, I had a proper look at her.
Her eyes were charmingly bigger onsight and she had beautiful, plump lips.
She was captivating.

"You almost scared me to death!" She shrieked and tried to search for air. Her hand laid on her chest and she fluttered her long eyelashes, "What are you even doing out here?"

"That is what I was about to ask you. You seemed to have been lost in thought for a second, what's going on?" I breathed. The question had rolled of my tongue and it was too late for me to swallow my words. She gave me a stern look and I bit my tongue in regret.

"Why would I tell you that? Forward much?" She sneered and pushed back a braid of her hair behind her ear. She was right, I did I overstep.
I stood beside her and withdrew into sullen silence.
The moon was at her peak tonight; she shined bright.
Leaves rustled above us and the cricket gave his song out to the world.
She sighed heavily and touched a leaf, "Do you ever just get tired of it all?" She broke the silence but continued to say, "Does it ever just feel too much sometimes, like a heavy weight on your shoulders and you're slowly losing your balance?"
Her words echoed into the night.
She gave life to the tune that had been playing in my head for quite a while.
She was able to put everything I felt into words.

"And you start thinking of giving up. Letting it all go." I replied.

She looked up at me and a smile formed on her face. Her smile was rare, different.
Even though I have seen her smile before, this one was different - it was genuine.
With her majesty, the moon looking down at us; we faced each other.
She wrapped her arms around me in a tight, warm embrace.
This was something that we both needed. No words said, no feelings shared. This was enough. I held her firmly, and my collar felt moist.
Light sobs echoed, and she pulled herself off me. Her eyes glossed and a dark trail ran down her cheeks.

"I am so sorry. I shouldn't have done that."

Just when I was about to respond, she turned around and ran off back to the house. I did not even get her name.
After a while of standing alone, under the endless sky, I dragged myself back to the house. Stupidly, I had expected her to return - which she did not.

"Colin?" Sean's rasp voice called as I made my way towards the house. "Where have you been? I thought you went home." He stated exactly what I was about to do.
I believe that she did not want me to run after her and even ask her what was going on, or if she was fine. That was a question I hated myself.

"Yeah. I'm actually on my way there. It was a great night though and...I enjoyed myself. Thank you, Sean." I drew a smile and he returned it. I forced myself through the herd of drunken teenagers. I caught a glimpse of her in the crowd but stopped myself from heading to her, instead I went home.

My room felt different tonight. Everything seemed brighter, and my bed floated. Her scent had rubbed off on me and it was all I could smell. The sandman was late tonight. I stared at the ceiling with confusion. I did not know whether to be happy or concerned. Whatever feeling I ended up with was because of one thing; love.
To think I would meet this wonderful girl at a party that I did not even want to go to. I had to see her again.
This could not be the end of it.
I did not know where or how I was ever going to meet her again. Her name? I did not know, where she lived? No clue.
For the first time in a while, I could not sleep because of excitement and...fear.
What if she forgets about me, and we never meet again?

All those thoughts about one single person continued until I sank into sleep.
