It was the summer of 99'- the year of lead grey and a rather strange period in jene's life.
apart from the static noise emitted from the small television in front of her, there was a painful ringing in Jene's ears. sighing, she stood up from the bed of her motel deciding to get some fresh air. she folded her arms securely around her body mimicking the warmth of a hug as she made her way to the field nearby. fumbling in the pockets of her rugged jeans she pulled out her phone, her thumb hovering over the contact belonging to her friend soobin. at first she wondered whether she was meant to call him but couldn't help but overthink that it wasn't the right choice. the two had been close friends at childhood- practically attached at the hip but in growing, they'd naturally drifted apart. jene bit her lip harshly as she recalled these memories, deciding whether to drop him a text instead.
jene was like robinson crusoe. sometimes she felt alone even when with a lot of other people. with these feelings of desertion and helplessness, she'd thought of ways of coping- ways to find herself again amidst these pains of growing. in doing this she'd became isolated from everyone around her. but she thought she was ready to let him in again. she couldn't help but wonder if their lost souls were meant to remain separated in this chaos called life.
