On a grim and dark evening, Caspene sits by a well lit fire. As she is looking into the bright blue and orange light she starts to contemplate the life she leads.
" Mom, what if I never become anything in life"
Mom sits and thinks for a moment. "Honey, you are beautiful and smart. You will have a very bright future" As they sit and look into the fire, They continue to sit in silence for some time.
Caspene then looks up from the fire. " I don't feel right. Something feels off". Mom doesn't say anything and continues to look into the fire. As she's looking into the fire, Caspene notices a dark shadow in the dim of the light. "What's that?" she says. " There's nothing over there you're just paranoid" mom says.
Caspene tries her best to forget about the dark shadow and move on. She gets up from her spot and grabs some marshmallows to roast over the fire. As she is looking away the dark shadow looms closer.
Caspene turns around, " Oh Shit, Watch out Mom!" A huge black bear has approached the fire. Before Mom can move, the bear is already standing next to her. She tries to dodge it, but the bear proceeds to sink its long sharp nails into mom's face. Caspene screams and runs to try to go find help.
While Caspene is gone, the bear continues to scratch and claw Mom until she is unable to breathe. Caspene returns to find the bear standing over her mother and her mom is laying on the ground gasping for air. "Mom! Mom! Can you hear me?? I ran and got Stephen as fast as I could!" There was no reply from her mother.
Stephen takes his bow and arrow and shoots the bear. The first shot just makes the bear angrier. He shoots again. This time the bear falls to the ground with a loud thump. " Oh thank you Stephen. You saved us all" proclaimed Caspene.
Stephen and Caspene proceed to carry her mother to the house where they do their best to repair her wounds. After some time they notice that there is no hope for her mother. The wounds were too severe. She takes a couple more deep, sharp breathes. Then, she passes away next to the window as Stephen sits next to her trying to dress the wounds. " Oh nooo. Not mama." Cries Caspene. "I'm so sorry it had to happen this way. At least she's not in pain" proclaims Stephen.
Caspene then takes her mother to the edge of the forest where she buries her and heads back to town to tell everyone what happened. As the sun is now coming up.
