Ruhi smiled at the girl, but Abhinav looked confused. He leaned in and whispered to Atharva, “

" Bahiya, yeh new bhabhi sa gali de rhi hai kya ?? "

(Bhaiya, is this new Bhabhi sa cursing?)

Atharva glared at Abhinav and motioned for him to be quiet, which Abhinav did. Despite this, other family members still looked tense. Rajveer said, “Ree, speak in Hindi or English; they don’t understand Bengali, please!”

Sreeja glared at him, and Atharva turned to Rajveer, holding his gaze as he said, “Answer my question. Why did you get married forcefully, and that too at gunpoint?”

Rajveer gulped, knowing his brother was extremely angry. Ruhi placed her hand on Atharva’s to calm him down. Atharva took a deep breath.

Ruhi spoke softly, “I think we should let him explain first. We can’t come to any conclusions without hearing him out completely. It wouldn’t be fair not to give him a chance to talk.”

Everyone nodded in agreement. Ruhi had already won Rajveer’s heart with her support, even though she didn’t know him well.

Atharva sighed, and Rohan said, “Bhaiya, I think Bhabhi sa is right.”

Atharva nodded and looked at Rajveer. “Explain yourself before I lose my patience.”

Rajveer gulped and took Sreeja’s hand, taking a deep breath before saying, “Brother, I met Sreeja before going to London, and I really liked her. I expressed my love for her at that time, but due to the long-distance relationship, we got separated.”

Sreeja, with a slight Bengali accent, continued, “As soon as we separated, my parents fixed my marriage with someone else. I felt devastated, especially when Rajveer would repeatedly disconnect my calls and not pick up.”

Rajveer sighed and raised his voice, “How many times do I have to tell you, Ree! My exams were going on, and I had no idea this would happen. That’s why I didn’t even attend my own brother’s wedding. Why can’t you understand that?”

Atharva, clearly angry, said, “Veer, stay within your limits. No one has given you the right to raise your voice.”

Atharva then turned to Sreeja and said, “Please continue. We’re listening.”
