(Remy)

"Typical, Usual or Ordinary; What You Expect"

This is what comes up if you look up the word 'normal'.

Am I normal?

I'll make a note to check on that later. Actually, screw that.

I'm mighty sure that I'm normal, or at least I look normal.

"Remy Anderson?" I barely recognized my own name being called out.

"Present ma'am." Came my reply. Everyone was perfectly occupied, and definitely no one was just thinking quietly. My mind on the other had, was a speeding bullet.

What if they find out?

What will they say?

What will happen?

What will I say?

Stop, just... stop. I'm following all the rules to the letter, no way will anyone find it. At least not if I don't want to be found...

"Hello? Lost again, spaceman?" A voice came from my right and I flinched for a second as a hand flew about in front of my vision.

Natalie.

"Earth to Remy, anyone home?"

"I'm here, alright."

"Only physically. Whatcha thinking?"

"Nothing much."

"Then you sure must be surprised with what I told you, then?"

"Sorry I just... kinda zoned out. Could you repeat?"

"Mia's back."

"Our Mia?"

"Yes. Her name's in the attendance list."

"Think she'll recognize us? After such a long time?"

"Maybe not. But she'll have the bracelet, remember?" Natalie said as she raised her own right hand and displayed the black rubber band with four names embossed upon it.

Remy Anderson

Mia Smith

Natalie Cooper

Jason White

4  inseparable friends. Fate had us meet in the most unexpected ways. Fate made us family. Fate pulled as apart. Eight years. That's how long Mia had gone. For eight years we were together and then for eight years we were separated. What was weird was the her family just left- no indication of anything. Just gone. Six years ago Jason and his family went off to England. It wasn't as abrupt, or untold, but it happened. And now our childhood friend is back. In a blitz, without any indication of it happening.

"Where is she?"

"That's the weird part- some teachers are saying that they saw her in the morning right before class, but now? No one can find her."

"She just probably went home if she's anything like we remember her as, Nat"

Nat smiled and I returned the gesture.

See? I'm perfectly capable of being normal. That normal conversation went just fine. Still, the urge to be more normal was there. What's more normal than normal, like, super normal?

"Is she still at her old place?"

"Don't ask me, I just got the flashbang during the attendance."

"Maybe we can try knocking?"
