The Rogue of Cheshire

Chapter 1 - The Cheshire Rave Club

FADE IN:

INT. NIGHT – CHESHIRE RAVE CLUB

Matthew, a Rogue from the nearby town of Cheshire, sits at a circular table with chairs set for four other people. He drinks his mead and looks around the bar. The smell of rum fills the bar as he watches his fellow humans, elfs, barbarians, etc., drowning themselves in alcoholic beverages, dancing to the music being played at the end of the bar.

For a few seconds, Matthew smiles, watching everyone around him having fun. Matthew slowly starts to get up from his seat, about to join in in the action when, suddenly, a group of four individuals dressed in fancy costumes come up to his table.

MILLY: Matthew.

Matthew looks directly at her. We are introduced to MILLY, 27, a half-elf cleric, wearing a grey suit of armor with a holster carrying her sword, had red-hair, and a blue cape behind her. Matthew recognizes her right away.

MATTHEW: Ah, Milly! Long time, no see. How's the family doing?

He then looks at the other two individuals on the right side of Milly. In order, we see OSIRIS, a Paladin, and DELILAH, a druid.

OSIRIS, DELIAH! So nice to see you all again. I mean, it's been like, what, three months since-

DELILAH: Six months, actually, since you left us at the Night Shaders village.

MATTHEW: Oh, well, I don't know about left you guys-

OSIRIS: Oh no, you're right. You mean, abounded us and left us for dead.

MATTHEW: Guys, guys, calm down! Look, I'm sorry about what happened, but look, you all made it out alive! I mean, you're here and-

OSIRIS: Look, what the hell do you want? Why did you call us here?

MATTHEW: Right, right. Here, just sit with me and I'll explain everything.

MILLY: We prefer to stand.

MATTHEW: Oh...well, to each their own, I guess.

He puts his right arm in his pants pockets and then pulls out a map. He lays a map down on the table. MATTHEW then looks back up at the other three.

You know what, maybe I'll stand up too.

He stands up. He points to a village on the map with the name Nightville on top of it.

So, from what I've heard, The Night Shaders have been growing their army since the last time we invaded their village, and according to my source, they've hired three new "heavy-hitters" just in case of any, well...

He then looks over at the trio.

...outsiders, like us.

OSIRIS, MILLY, and DELILAH look at each other, then back at MATTHEW. They look curious.

DELILAH: And did your source give you any details, or like a description about any of these "heavy hitters" you just mentioned?

MATTHEW: Nope, unfortunately. Only that they are not supposed to be taken lightly.

He then points his right arm around a forest that's close to the village.

Now, last time we tried to go against him, we made ourselves...

MATTHEW looks back up at the trio. The looks on their faces tell him that they're sarcastically thrilled to hear what excuse MATTHEW comes up with.
