When people looked at Illumi their first thoughts were always along the lines of 'lawyer' or 'business man'. He constantly had that stoic expression. Someone like this certainly couldn't be interested in any of the arts- let alone be good at them. This man had to be completely left brained.
Illumi Zoldyck owned a hair salon. He did not just manage or provide for it, no. He was a professional stylist and a good one at that. Many would pay hundreds just for one appointment. It was astonishing really. Illumi never thought of himself as all that great. Of course there were other workers hired; he couldn't take care of everyone. That was impossible. People said he worked miracles when it, to him, was just common sense. Then again Illumi had been to a school for this. The advantage was a bit unfair, him vs the general public in this area of expertise. Who knows when his 'fame' came to be. People claimed he could turn pubes into paradise.

He did not work with that kind of hair...

Illumi looked down at Hisoka with a small frown. "You've been box dying your hair, haven't you?" He began to wash the color remover treatment out. Underneath remained a somewhat stained and uneven hue of reds and oranges fanning out from the obvious roots. "I told you it will stain your hair." Hisoka had been a regular for over a year now, coming almost every month or two for either a touch up or a new color. He, to no one's surprise, was a fan of bright pigments. Although for a while he stopped coming. Illumi had caught himself wondering where the other disappeared to. Now it didn't matter. He'd have to do extra work on keeping Hisoka's hair healthy after the amateur bleach job it experienced.

The clownish man just hummed in response, leaning back in the chair to make sure his head was still over the rinsing station. "Ah you know me too well." The salon was rather expensive. With such unnatural color choices roots seemed to grow quicker than usual. He tried to do 'at home' dyes for a cheap replacement, but they never looked as good. "I might go with something more subtle this time.. Do you think pink would look good on me?"

Illumi finished the quick rinse out and signaled for Hisoka to sit up. The Zoldyck quickly grabbed a towel to stop the soaking hair from causing a mess. "It will look better on top of your natural hair color than the blue did." That was an experience. Hisoka over here didn't follow his instructions and went off to a pool party right after getting it dyed. His hair faded to green in two days.

"You'll never let me live that down will you?"

"I'm only here to remind you never do it again."

Illumi blow dried his hair, did a proper Olaplex bleach treatment, and rinsed again. It's surprising how in about an hour Hisoka's hair was back to its natural shade of blonde. Yes he was a natural blonde, not too hard to believe. Nearly no one but Illumi had seen his hair in this state since Hisoka was in high school. "You want bright pink, right?" Was that even a question that needed to be asked? "I'll add some magenta streaks. I'm sure you'll like it."

"My hair always feels so soft when you work with it. Are you sure you're not the magician here?" Hisoka joked as he ran his fingers through that glorious, currently blonde, mane of his.

Illumi shrugged, taking a seat in a stool behind him as he mixed a color concoction together. "It's nothing all too grand. Tilt your head forward."

He did as told without hesitation, smiling softly when he felt the dye being brushed in. "We haven't talked in what feels like forever. Since you constantly refuse to give me your number.." The saltiness was showing. "Really Illumi dear, why must you be so cold to me?" Hisoka began to pout instead. If Illumi was rolling his eyes he couldn't tell.
One of the rules of the salon had always been no personal contact with clients. This was mainly just to save stylists like Illumi from being bombarded with questions about hair in their time off work. Of course there were some people who would keep persisting. Hisoka was on a whole different level. The second time they met he bluntly confessed his 'attraction' and ended up with a cancelled appointment.
