No matter how hard a certain onyx-haired Miko thought, her first memories were filled with a very fluffy family of white dogs. The memories always started with just one dog named Taisho, and he watched her grow. Around 5 years old, one dog turned into two with the addition of a small pup, Taisho’s first son. At this age, Kagome also realized there was something unique and new about her longtime companion. There had been a new glint in his Amber eyes, full of knowing, wisdom, and far more intelligent than any dog should be. With sudden clarity, she knew he was more than a dog, and her curiosity grew.

With the pup in tow, the large dog approached her for the first time. All these years, he had watched her from a distance but was always close enough to her if anything would happen to the young girl. His presence had always been comforting and made Kagome feel safe and protected even. Setting the pup down about a yard away from where the girl waited, Tashio continued to walk towards her. When a mere 6 inches separated Human from Canine, he stopped and watched her expectantly.  With a look of wonder, Kagome reached towards the dog, eager to finally feel the soft fur under her hand. Taisho gently pushed his neck into her touch and happily petted him. His fur was just as soft as she always thought, dense and warm as well. It was a wondrous texture she wished she could just cuddle into whenever she wanted.

After about a minute, he pulled away, giving her cheek a small lick, and returned his attention to his pup. Said pup didn't even move the slightest from the spot his father had placed him in. Trotting over to him, Taisho gave him a nudge in her direction, yet he didn't budge. Letting out a small huff, Taisho decided to lead the waiting girl to his son instead, easily solving the problem. Happily, she reached out to cuddle him to her chest but pulled her hands away quickly when the ball of fluff growled and gnashed his teeth at her.

Judging by the growls and barks of Taisho, the pup was scolded while Kagome watched with tears swimming in her lilac gaze. Yet the pup seemed unfazed. After a second round of sounds, the pup looked at his dad in a mix of surprise and betrayal. A now self-satisfied Taisho sat as he waited for his son to move, but when he didn't, he gave a smaller dog a warning growl. Now glaring at his dad, he stood up and took a whole two steps and sat directly in front of her. Gently, she gathered the pup into her arms and snuggled it happily. “You're such a cutie” she mumbled against his head and then turned her head to the other dog patiently watching the two. “You very handsome, Taisho, and thank you for bringing your son to see me. Hearing her parents call for her, she quickly kissed the two dogs on their heads and ran to her parent's arms.

As time went on, Kagome and Maru started to grow close, and after the first handful of visits, Maru had no problem interacting with Kagome. These visits between the child and two dogs became a routine, but when she turned eight, Maru didn't show up. She had been hurt and confused and asked her family why. Did he not like spending time with her? Did something happen to him? There had been a million questions flooding her brain. They had told her not to worry that he had to go through some training for a few years and that he would return on her 11th birthday.

The day she turned 11, she was buzzing with energy and was beyond excited to see Maru again and show him how her archery skills had improved. When Taisho and Maru, a surprise came with, a bouncing fluffy surprise, Taisho’s second son, Inu. She couldn't help the laugh that escaped when the small puppy with large paws tripped over himself a bit as he launched into her waiting arms. Unlike his older brother, who had an aloof and cold air about him, Inu was energetic, playful, and cuddly. His little tail never stopped wagging, and he attacked her face with kisses. She was trying to hold onto the wiggling pup. Kagome glanced at Taisho, who was as proud as ever, and disappointedly, Maru seemed impassive and uninterested. Normally, she would feel hurt by his behavior, but she knew better.

Grinning softly, she turned her attention to the pup in her arms. “Don't tell your brother”, she whispered, “but I think you're more adorable than he was when I first met him”. Hearing her, Maru seemed to glare and expressed his displeasure with a growl. she just rolled her eyes and sat Inu down, more than happy to watch him scamper about. “Don't worry Maru, I still think you're handsome”, and he really was, and he had even grown bigger than his father, or maybe he was just fluffier? Either way, he was beautiful, and his fur was like liquid silk and felt just as dense and warm as his father's fur had been. Still to this day, she wished she could just cuddle into anything similar to their fur, and she had looked but could never find something even remotely close.

“Plus since when do you get jealous? She teased with mirth gleaming in her eyes. He huffed loudly and rolled his eyes. It was like he was saying, “I don't get jealous”. She sighed and decided that maybe she wasn't okay with how he was acting and had an idea. Motioning Tashio over, she whispered her plan into his ears, and judging by how his ears perked, he liked the idea. Stepping back a little, she shouted “Who wants to play?” and took off running, instantly Taisho and a little ball of energy took off behind her. Quickly, she had found herself on the ground as she was attacked with kisses.

Lost in her laughter, she failed to notice Maru approaching. She froze when the kisses were replaced with a new sensation. Quickly turning her attention to her body, she realized it was Maru, and the odd sensation was his nose sniffing around, trying to see how much of the other males' scents were on her, clearly unhappy with the scents he started rubbing his own all over her, much like a pet would. However, the scenting process seemed to me more intense as it went on, much like something else was spurring him on. Maybe he was jealous, after all. She still did not want to trigger any other possessive behaviors. Maru did end up getting pulled away by his father after some time, and judging by the angry growl, Maru wasn't pleased.  A small series of other sounds by his father seemed to calm him down, and he stepped back on his own.
