Chapter 10: Novelist ft. Kyogai

(this chapter is inspired by one of the original chapters in Kimetsu Gakuen, chapter vol 1. Where Shinobu and Mitsuri were discussing about Mitsuri's comic. Aoi happened to experience a case of deja vu in this chapter)

Wednesday, 2:50 pm, English class,

The English teacher, Gotou, placed his book on the desk. "Alright, before you head back home, I'd like to remind you of your assignment which is to write a story that has a minimum of five passive sentences and to use a dialogue sentence. It's due this Friday, make sure you at least write an interesting story to make up for your awful usage of grammar."

Once the bell rang, everyone made their way home. [Reader] was still packing their stuff while Shinobu was waiting for them with her usual smile on her face. It didn't take long until Hakuji and Koyuki arrived at their classroom.

Hakuji knocked on the door to get [Reader]'s attention. "Hey [Reader], you done packing yet? Let's head home already."

[Reader] turned to the couple and shook their head. "You guys can go home without me. I'll be staying in school for a while with Kocho today." They informed.

Hakuji nodded. "Alright then, I'll see you later."

Koyuki smiled at them and waved her hand goodbye to them. "Bye [Reader]..!"

[Reader] waved back to them and continued packing. The two students then walked home together with their hands intertwined with each other, leaving [Reader] and Shinobu in their classroom together.

[Reader] and Shinobu walked out of the classroom and headed towards the library.

"Thanks for helping me out, Kocho. You know I suck at writing stories." [Reader] sighed.

Shinobu chuckled and smiled at them. "It's no problem, [Reader]. Besides, writing stories isn't my forte either... At least we can put our heads together to think of a storyline."

Once the two arrived at the library, the two were greeted by the school's librarian, Masachika, and the library helper, Aoi.

Masachika smiled at the sight of them. "Oh, it's [Reader] and Kocho! Surprised to see you two here after school." He waved at them.

Aoi, who was organising the books, stopped for a moment before turning to the two students. "Ah, seniors..! Kocho, [Reader], is there a book that you fancy on?" She asked.

[Reader] waved back at Masachika while Shinobu busy herself setting down her stuff on one of the tables. She then smiled at Aoi. "Not really. However, we might need reference in order to start our story."

"Aoi, do you perhaps know a good novel? Something simple and interesting." [Reader] asked.

Aoi nodded. "I'll try to find one." With that, she hurried to one of the shelves, looking for the book.

"What a hard worker." [Reader] praised as they stared at Aoi in admiration.

"Indeed she is." Shinobu chuckled.

"Alright, we should work hard too. Let's start brainstorming a story." [Reader] said in a motivating tone.

Shinobu nodded her head with a smile. "Mhm, let's do our best."

About half an hour later, [Reader] and Shinobu had their head buried in books. [Reader] raised their head from the table with a groan.

"Nothing... Half an hour of thinking, still nothing..." [Reader] complained.

"I've never struggled this much in an assignment before..." Shinobu sighed. "Maybe we should just stick to the basic and boring story." She suggested.

"But that won't work... Gotou said that we need a point for creativity as well." [Reader] said.
