YN's pov

The familiar hum of DedSec enveloped me as I stepped through the door, greeted by the sight of my old friends gathered around. It had been too long since I last saw them all together, and the warmth of their smiles instantly eased the tension I carried.

"Wrench!" I called out, spotting him tinkering with one of his gadgets in the corner. He turned, his trademark mask hiding any hint of emotion, but his eyes lit up as he saw me.

"[Your Name]!" Wrench exclaimed, setting down his tools and crossing the room in quick strides. He pulled me into a tight hug, his enthusiasm contagious.

"It's so good to see you," I said, returning the embrace. "I've missed this."

"Missed you too," Wrench replied, his voice muffled by the mask. "We've got a lot to catch up on."

"Most definitely," I smiled, "let me just say hi to the rest of them and I'll be back to you."

He had always been my favourite person in DedSec, such a beautiful soul - despite his temperamental personality at times. And I legitimately loved him like no other friend.

Although I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. It wasn't until I saw Wrench's girlfriend, that I realized what it was.

She sat across from Wrench, her expression distant as she scrolled through her phone, paying little attention to the conversation around her. Wrench, on the other hand, was animated, his gestures exaggerated as he recounted one of his latest escapades.

I watched as Coco's eyes rolled, a dismissive smirk playing on her lips. It was clear she didn't share Wrench's passion for hacking, and it bothered me more than I cared to admit because she was literally... his opposite. And I loved Wrench, so it made sense to me that I couldn't stand her.

After finally getting out of the conversation with the rest and when they had dispersed, I found myself alone with Wrench, the tension between us palpable.

"Hey, are you okay?" I asked, unable to keep silent any longer.

Wrench shrugged, but I could see feel uncertainty. "Yeah, just tired, I guess."

I hesitated, unsure of how to broach the subject, but the words spilled out before I could stop them. "It's just... I couldn't help but notice how she was treating you tonight. It doesn't seem right. I really don't mean to interfere, you know that," I lied, "but yeah just gets on my nerves."

Wrench stiffened, his mask hiding his expression. "What do you mean?"

"I mean that she doesn't seem to appreciate you, Wrench," I said, my voice gentle but firm.

Wrench was silent for a moment, processing my words. Finally, he let out a sigh, his shoulders slumping. "Eh... it's complicated."

Just then, Coco approached us, a forced smile on her face. "Hey, babe, ready to go?"

Wrench glanced at me, then back at Lisa, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his features. "Um, actually, I was thinking of staying a bit longer."

Her smile faltered, replaced by a frown. "Seriously? We had plans, Wrench."

"I know, but I haven't seen [Your Name] in forever," Wrench said, gesturing to me. "I just want to catch up now that we can."

Coco rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest. "Fine, do whatever you want. I'll be outside."

As she stormed off, I watched Wrench's shoulders slump, the weight of the tension between them evident in his posture.

"You okay?" I asked, concern lacing my voice.
