𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗗𝗢𝗨 𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗧 numb. he knew y/n was the one for him, yet how come sae seemed so...protective.
almost as if he were in love with her.
that was nonsense—sae was his best friend and he knew shidou had a connection with her.
oh wait, he meant ex-best friend.
could it really be that sae would do such a thing? to harbor feelings and possibly act on them?
if he was, shidou wouldn't wait to find out.

the hospital was quiet, the sound of quiet beeping from several patients heart monitors reverberating around the building.
the nurses and doctors quiet shuffles were tuned out by the h/c surgeon as she focused on paperwork. it wasn't long before a knock resounded on her door—presumably her coworker anri.
"come in," she said, her gaze still directed at her documents.
"it's me," sae replied, his usual monotone expression matching his voice. the difference was the lilies in his hand.
"what're you doing here? your shift ended..." her voice trailed off upon noticing the flowers. "...a few hours ago."
lilies. her favorite flower—the flower of hope, purity, and faith.
"may I take you on a date?" he asked bluntly in his usual bland, monotone fashion.
"why?" she asked, as per her confusion. he had never seemed interested in her before—why now?
"because you're beautiful—the most gorgeous person I know. you deserve someone who can treat you right, and i know i might not be your first option. all i ask is that you give me a chance—a chance to prove how much you mean to me." sae finished, his voice echoing around the room.
"are you sure you want to choose me?" she asked hesitantly—awestruck by how devoted he was to her.
"i'm sure—you're the only one for me," he said, his eyes lit with determination.
"...then i'd love to go on a date with you to you," she murmured.
sae knew her heart still belonged to shidou—he knew she didn't like him the same way her like her.
yet.
he would show her how he was better—how much more he loved her—how he was the one she deserved. how he wouldn't hurt her like a certain dual haired male.
yet if only shidou had arrived a little later, he wouldn't have needed to see his best friend giving flowers to the one he knew he loved.
the one he wanted to tell he loved.
yet she seemed just out of his grasps, like a dream slipping away from hands—falling like a dying star he had wished on.
just like how the lilies he bought for her fell to ground.
