Why can't we ?

K was just a student in his second year at college, Who had newly moved out from his parents house seeking independence
And going against their wishes, now he lived by himself in a small apartment near his uni.

It was very cold in winter and he had literally no friends since he is a foreigner living temporarily in Seoul and it was quite hard to make friends, and  nowhere else to go after classes but home

It kept pouring heavily outside as he was in his way home late in the evening, when he happened to find a young boy sitting alone on the bus station In front of the buildings where he lived

He already saw this morning
It seems like he didn't move anywhere

There weren't any buses at that time to take either

The kind hearted K is he couldn't just walk away from him.

The younger was obviously shivering, his cheeks and hands had turned red from cold 

Making K wander for how long he was outside
And why they haven't picked him up yet ?
Which made him frown

After watching him, K felt like he looked abit familiar

He is sure he have seen him before but where exactly?

There weren't many poor people in the area where K lived and this one didn't look like a beger, he was very well  dressed and his hair and shoes were perfectly done and clean

He looked 13 or maybe more or less, he was too short and K couldn't tell his right age

But either ways
It was getting late for a child around his age to be alone at such an hour

Before It finally clicked in K's mind

It can't be !" He looked familiar as if he had seen him somewhere, but k had no evidence yet

He was hesitant at first, weither he should talk to him first or call the authorities for help

He actually didn't want to scare the boy.

But a voice inside of him told him to do something

"Hi !"

The boy glared toward him

Even by doing that it didn't stop K

Um.. I am K "

I saw yo..."

Just then the boy had to stand up and walk away from there

Shit he sure sounded like a creep to him, K scolded himself

The boy started running down the street when he heared K's foot steps behind him
Which was not a good idea!

Wait!"
But K was as stubborn as him and ran faster until he easily caught up to him

They both halted at some point

The boy definitely was the first to take a break because he ran out of energy

"You are a good runner too you know" K said as if he was proud of him

The boy frowned after he was being praised  looking madder than before

"Hey look, I am a student too I am not a creep ! And I was just worried
K who looked offended pointed at the uniform to prove himself

The boy looked away still bothered by his presence, he tried to look for another escape

Don't even think about it
K warned him that he shouldn't try to run again

The shorter went to sit somewhere on a bunch since they were inside one of the public parks now

Despite not wanting to communicate,  K decided to accompany him
Because how would he just leave a child at such a late hour

"Its getting late"

"Did your parents forgot to pick you up ? Do you want to call somebody ?"

Here use my phone " K offered he really didn't know how to help him else way

The boy stared at the older's hand before he shook his head rejecting his help
Until now he haven't said a word

"Then what are you going to do ? Are you going to stay outside all night?" This time K spoke in Japanese because it was easier for him

And found the younger staring at him with eyes wide

Which means he understands Japanese or maybe he is Japanese

Just by then a paire of drunk men walked passed them

And the boy seemed to stand up and  step closer from K as a way of seeking protection from him

The side of K's lips twitched in a smile

"It's cold and not safe for you, do you still wanna stay outside by yourself?"

The boy shrug his shoulder

Then showed his sad puppy eyes which were enough to melt the older's heart, like he could fight a whole country for him

And That was enough for k to understand that he actually didn't want to be left alone in the dark

Living alone was boring as hell

Plus...

He always wished to have a younger sibling
he would take care of and teach everything he knows letter by letter

But his parents weren't doing good financially so having another child was risky for their family.

This didn't mean they didn't work enough to provide a better life for K

Now it just felt like his dream was becoming real .

"Don't wait at the door come inside" the older said as he turned on all the lights

Why was he acting shy suddenly

The younger went inside and closed the door behind him.

K stared at him for a moment
He must have been wearing his school uniform all day which might be uncomfortable

"I will bring you something to change later, I think you should shower first, 
The shower room is on your left

Like he may not want to shower in a strangers bathroom

K watched the younger obediently does as he was requested

He went in an came back after five minutes

He is well mannered too

K went to the kitchen

And heard the boy's footsteps following him there

He tilted his head and saw him sitting at the table

Before he heard small noises coming from hiq empty stomach

Why ch he found cute to bear

K was smiling every time he got to turn his head and find the younger watching him do work

He is sitting there doing nothing, but K like his presence

But there was still a question that kept crossing his mind

Why would a kid as rich as him run away from home ?
