The middle-aged man named Yu became especially unhappy. "It's her business whether or not she wants to buy it. How is it related to a passer-by like you?"
"I'm a passer-by?" Despite his words, Somi did not mind this turn of events very much. It was a good sign that Jennie enjoyed wasting money.
She bought a haunted apartment the moment she received money from those elders in the Manoban family. People had died one after another in this apartment. Was Jennie hoping that the three Manoban elders would die earlier?
Kai was still immersed in his act of being a good person. "Jennie, was there a need to rush into signing a contract by the roadside?"
"Um... I'm so sorry." The middle-aged man named Yu spoke up again. "I was nearby coincidentally and I heard from Liu Ling that someone was interested in this haunted... this house. I am extremely busy during this time so I had no choice but to make Miss Kim sign the contract here."
Jennie transferred the full payment to the property agent's company's account. She then accompanied the middle-aged and Liu Ling to transfer the ownership of the apartment.
Somi took in their rear view and said to Kai in confusion, "Brother, why did Jennie buy this haunted apartment? She has the Yu Ting Villa, a luxurious place, to live in. There's no way she'll use this apartment."
Kai deliberated over this. "A haunted apartment in Mian Lan North District... Jennie's birth mother is named Kim Lilan. She was murdered at the Kim home by Kim Liyin. Perhaps, Jennie purchased this apartment because it also has the word 'Lan' in its name?"
"I bet she must have gone insane after spending seven years with her mother's corpse and has taken a liking to haunted apartments." Somi added.
"That's also a possibility."
...
That night, in the Manoban family's old mansion, only Grandfather Zhongshan, Huang Zhishu, Kai and Somi were present for dinner.
Lisa was busy with work and was working overtime at the office. He did not intend to return for dinner.
Somi took in the table of sumptuous dishes. She was starving to the point where her stomach was nearly caving in. However, she did not dare to move her chopsticks before the Manoban family's elder gave his word.
"Grandfather, can we eat now?" Kai was also hungry.
"Jennie didn't say that she won't be home for dinner. Let's wait for a while longer," Chongshan instructed sternly.
It seemed like Jennie was rather important to this old man. That was also a good thing. Kai narrowed his eyes. "Jennie will soon become a member of our family. It's true that we should wait for her."
Somi was extremely angered by the old man's unfair treatment.
She had been in the Manoban family for a long time, but never received his favour.
In comparison, an outsider was being doted on even before she properly entered the family.
What she did not know was that it was the ambition that her family had failed to hide that actually provoked the Manoban family's ire. If it wasn't for the late Pu, their family of three would already have lost their positions.
Five minutes later, Jennie stepped into the villa. She greeted Chongshan with a smile. "Grandfather."
"Good. Come over and sit." Chongshan pointed at the seat he had deliberately left open for her.
"Miss Kim sure is easily liked. Our entire family has been waiting for you." Somi smiled sweetly.
Jennie glanced indifferently at her. "Somi, your words are interesting. If you wish to mock me for putting on airs and making you guys wait, you can speak directly. You must be the only person who tries so hard to mock people imperceptibly. Besides, I didn't even ask your family of three to wait."
She then tugged on Chongshan's arm sweetly. "I'm only a family with you, Grandfather."
Somi's body was covered in goosebumps from her act.
However, Chongshan thoroughly enjoyed Jennie's behaviour.
He rubbed his beard happily. "Yes, yes. Jenjen, you must be hungry. Dig in."
