'This is the Gryffindor common room. Girls dormitories to the left and boys to the right. Your trunks should be on your beds now' said the Gryffindor prefect Ally Weasley before walking away.
'Hello. I'm Harrison Dudley. You can call me Harry though' he said to the girl next to him nervously.
She looked at him amused and replied ' Lenore Mortebella. Nice to meet you Harrison'.
'How I hate that name' he muttered before smiling at the dark haired girl next to him.
'My parents are muggles. Though they didn't seem very surprised when I got the letter. What about you? Are your parents wizards?' he asked curiously.
'Yes they were' she said curtly before turning to the other girls and introducing herself.
Harrison shrugged and walked up to his dorm room that he shared with four other boys. They were already unpacking.
'Hey man. The names Matt Bennett' said a boy with dark curly hair.
'I'm Jamie Fowler' grinned the other boy.
'Harrison. But call me Harry' he said smiling widely.
'I'm Ben Taylor and this is my brother Andrew.' said a blonde boy nodding towards another boy with an impish smile.
Harrison smiled at them and began to unpack while thinking about his parents. He'd been told at a very young age stories about his Uncle Harry and the wizarding world. Of course he hadn't believed it then simply passing it off as a child's tale. But things were different now. Once he received his letter his father had panicked and disappeared into his room to make calls. A few minutes later, a dark messy haired man with spectacles on his nose came through the door grinning and introducing himself as his Uncle Harry. Harrison was completely shocked. He'd just found out that the stories were true and a man he believed was a fictional character was actually his dad's cousin. Feeling a little strange, he'd muttered a quick hallo and sat down next to his father.
'Hey Big D' said his Uncle grinning at his dad.
'Aw c'mon Harry! Are you ever gonna quit calling me that' said his father laughing.
'Never' said his uncle impishly.
After laughing and exchanging stories about house elves and diets, uncle Harry had said goodbye and left winking at Harisson.Harisson slid into the covers and closed his eyes dreaming about falling cakes and fat aunts.
'Scorpius!! Wake up! We're gonna be late for breakfast!' said Al pushing his friend off the bed.
Scorpius groggily got ready and walked with an impatient Al to breakfast where Rose was already waiting for them.
'Good morning sleepyheads. We have 10 minutes before our first class. So don't be late' she glared at them.
'Double defence against the dark arts with Professor Lovegood and the Gryffindors. That should be fun' said Scorpius with his mouth full.
He didn't get to finish his breakfast as Rose had dragged them both from there saying something about first impressions and trolls.
The three of them quickly sat down and took out their books looking around expectantly but there was no sign of the professor.
Suddenly professor Lovegood climbed out of a hole in the wall 'Im sorry I'm late. A few pufflepigs were in my way' she said thoughtfully.
'Let's begin' she said clapping her hands together.'The forces of light and dark are always in constant battle. Having witnessed the damage the dark arts can cause first hand when used either in a good or a bad way I decided that helping others against it was my calling. When we were at Hogwarts, The Dark Lord had just come back to power and we were terrified. The ministry then did not want us trained to defend ourselves so one young wizard began to teach us. Let's just say that if it wasn't for him none of us would be here today. Since then, the Ministry has decided that it's much safer to introduce the practical application of defence against the dark arts right from the first year.'
She waved her wand and the furniture disappeared and cushions appeared all over the floor. 'Watch me' she instructed.
Taking out her wand 'Expelliarmus' she said gracefully flicking it at Rose and her wand flew through the air before Professor Lovegood deftly caught it.
The class looked at her awed and professor Lovegood just laughed returning Rose's wand.
'I want you all to just repeat the incantation without your wands thrice first then we will begin' she said.
When that was done she began to pair them up. 'Mr. Dudley, you're with Mr. Bennett. Taylor you're with the other Taylor. Ms. Weasley you're with Miss Mortebella over here. And Mr. Potter you're with Mr. Malloy. Mr Fowler! Oh Mr. Fowler what do you think you're doing?' she demanded going after the boy. 'You can be my partner' she said.
'Wants at the ready! And NOW!' she shouted.
'EXPELLIARMUS' bellowed the class. Not a single wand twitched. She chuckled and said they should maybe try it alone.
So the pairs began to try.
Rose looked at Lenore and began to say the incantation when Lenore pointed her wand at her and said calmly 'Expelliarmus'. Rose looked incredulous as her wand flew out of her hand and fell on one of the many cushions around her.
'Well done Ms. Mortebella! Look everyone. A perfect spell. Excellent work. 5 points to Gryffindor' shouted Professor Lovegood in glee while Lenore smiled shyly at everybody.
'Again' said the Professor.
After a few knocked out students and Rose successfully disarming Lenore, ' That'll be all for today. Practice. Practice. And more practice. May the wrack spurts be with you' said the Professor and left the room with all the students behind her.
