The new Greenie (Newt x reader)

I awake to a grinding sound, I open my eyes. It's dark and cold and I take a big breath, my lungs are on fire. I look around and see weird shapes with the little to no light around me. I spot crates that's all, I'm still cold so I roll up in a ball and shiver. I take a moment to realise I'm moving up at incredible speeds, and I'm in a metal box. I try to think of my past but there's nothing, not even my name! Great now I'm more confused! I choose to close my eyes and go back to sleep, but as soon as I do the box jerks and stops. I open my eyes alert and ready, then sunlight shines in. I shield my eyes and see people. My eyes are getting used to the light and I soon notice I'm surrounded by boys, who happen to be above me. I notice one step forward and see blonde hair, he calls down "welcome to the glade greenie" I frown at him. Greenie? Glade? Is my name greenie? Well I know I'm in a place called the glade, that's it. He offers his hand I take it "the names newt" he says, okay I know his name. As soon as I'm lifted up I examine my surroundings, there is a forrest,wooden house and four huge grey walls. I spot a opening within the walls, I notice that there's a gap between people and it's straight in front of the opening. I take it. I sprint towards the opening, I'm fast and I hear footsteps and calls but one stands out. He sounds respected and demanding "get her!" I run faster, I reach the opening but as soon as I do someone is running towards me. Some Asian kid he notices me before I could turn left he grabs my wrist and chucks me over his shoulder. I punch his back "let me go!" I yell over and over "your safer in the glade then out there " he says. I give up and hang limp, I hear him chuckle "not much of a fighter are you? " This is my chance. I turn my body on a angle and kick his balls, he groans and doubles over dropping me. I may seem weak but I am intelligent, I run to my left and there are obstacles but I hear people so I run faster. I jump over a ledge and land on the other side but I still hear footsteps, I slide under this ledge sticking out of the wall and continue running. But just as I think I'm home free I'm tackled to the ground by a guy with black hair and brown skin. "Get off!" I tell but he picks me up and carries me bridal style. What's his deal! I go to punch him but he lifts his hand and hits my head, I feel dizzy and soon I black out. I'm awoken by people talking, but I keep my eyes closed to see what they're talking about. "She's amazing! Did you see how agile she is! She jumped and skidded without effort! And is intelligent enough to get out of tricky situations! She's perfect for a runner!" I slowly open my eyes and see it was the Asian kid who said that. I open my other eye but Newt notices I'm a awake and nudges the brown skinned boy "she's awake " newt says a little annoyed. I look around but notice I'm in a wooden house and it seems to be well built, the Asian steps forward and says "I'm Minho" I smile "nice to meet you" he smiles after I say that. The brown skinned boy then stands closer to me and says "I'm Alby, and you pulled a sick stunt. You could of got yourself killed or worst lost..." I frown why is lost worse than dead? "I'm sorry" I mutter, Alby seems to notice me staring at Newt "what's wrong with Next?" He asks I turn my attention back to Alby and respond "I don't like him" that seems to shock them. "Why you don't like him?" Asks Minho "he seems full of himself " I say it my matter of factly voice. Alby chuckles and Minho doubles over laughing, I frown what's funny? I see Newt is red and fuming, I smile at him. "I'm not full of myself!" He says "you seem like it to me" I respond, he glares and leaves. Alby soon stops chucking and says "your the only one to say that about Newt, and I never knew someone could not like someone when they only just met" I smile "that's what I do" the look shocked "you remember " they ask, I frown "no I do not but I assume that much" I say with a sassy voice. Minho chuckles and pats my shoulder "I like you kid! Your funny!" I smile he seems nice and easy to impress,Alby on the other hand.... He will take longer to impress. Alby nods his head nod says "nice to meet you greenie" I frown there it is again, Minho speaks up "that's what we call the newbies, it also helps since you can't remember your name. It gives us something to call you" I nod and mumble " thanks". Alby leaves and Minho also leaves, I get bored and choose to explore. I walk outside and I notice a lot of boys working, like with animals and gardening. I walk towards the gardens, I Always liked gardening. When I'm close enough I saw the mop of blonde hair I didn't want to see, I sigh but still walk there since I want to see what they're growing. When I arrive I hear some of the guys murmur, I shrug it off and walk up to newt who is pulling up potatoes. I stand close but not to close and watch, he pulls one more up before he stands up and stretches with his eyes closed "why you here?" He asks annoyed. I frown and say "I'm bored" I say in the same annoyed tone, he sighs then passes me a rake "rake the leaves then you won't be bored" I groan but I still go towards the leaves he was referring to. I start to rake, but soon I'm bored. I start to hum a song, I can't remember all of it. I remember a couple of lines and I choose to sing, quietly so they don't get distracted.

I took another breathe, I feel eyes boring onto my head but I still continue to sing.
I said I loved you in the summer

But just as I was going to continue the strong demanding voice I heard when I ran into the maze spoke up "will you shut up Greenie!" I looked up to be met with a hard glare. The boy looked around 15 and had black hair and bright green eyes, I looked right into the glare with my own glare "why should I? " I sassed back he seemed easy to anger because he clenched his fists at my remark. Just as he was going to say something newt stepped in "Gally calm down, Greenie stop making people angry at you all the time" he whined at me but was affirmative with 'Gally' I still glared and he glared back. Newt realised that there was no point in trying to stop it, and just dragged Gally away to talk. Newt soon returned and he looked awful annoyed, I chose to cheer him up. Just this once. I smiled at him, he looked at me still annoyed. My plan was I smile he smiles back, that didn't happen so time for plan B. I pull a really funny face, he soon is laughing. I smile at my victory over mister annoyed all the time. He soon stops laughing and says "maybe you- " Minho comes running over and cuts in before he could continue "hey kid! I have a surprise for you!" I smile at him to cover the annoyance I feel about him cutting newt off. "What is it?" I ask curious "you going to be a runner" is what he says and I'm left confused and newt looks angry mixed with shocked. "What?!" Newt yells "has Alby lost his mind? She has only got here today!" I frown at newts comment. They continue to argue "what is a runner?" I ask all of a sudden "someone who runs in the maze trying to find a way out" Minho responds easily. Newt then speaks up "she's not doing it" I nod in agreement "I want to garden" I say this shocks them both. "Why?" Newt asks "I like gardening. With pulling up weeds,raking leaves and picking the crop" I say with a smile, Minho is now smirking "it's a shame that you want to be a track-hoe, you do know that means you have to spend a lot of time with newt don't you?" He says with a smart ass voice. I shrug "I miss judged him" I say, "well if you ever get bored with being a track-hoe you can always come to me and become a runner" Minho says, he soon runs off. We are alone,Newt smiles and I feel butterflies "welcome to the gardens Greenie".
