"Look, I didn't wanna be a Halfblood™"

"Oh, real original, Lucy."

"Well, this is my story, so zip it Hyacinthus!" Lucy snapped at him.

"Call me that again, and I'll drown you in the lake!"

Lucy ignored him and continued on her story:

My sister Anya and I were starting at our new school, "Yancy Acadamy". It was bad enough, starting at a new school, again. And, as if that didn't make us stick out enough, being identical twins definitely doesn't help much either, especially when you're trying to keep a low profile; that, alone, comes with a lot of questions from the other kids. But, the worst part was the bullies. Some kids didn't like things that they weren't used to, or didn't understand, and that would result in a few... incidents. Of course, the first of these incidents happened before we had even walked in the door, when some older kid tripped me in the parking lot.

Caring as she is, Anya tried to confront him, but he just shoved her to the side and ran into the school. Anya came back over and helped me up before we made our way into the school.

The day only got worse from there, and I soon learned why the kids at my last school seemed shocked when I told them I was going to Yancy Academy. Apparently the school had gotten a really bad reputation for being the only school to accept kids who'd flunked out or gotten kicked out of other schools and we were no exception.

It felt like no matter where we went, trouble followed; whether it be bullies, grades, teachers or whatever else could find us, and it didn't take long for that trouble to find us once again.

Recess, probably one of the worst things invented, almost an entire 30 minutes where kids were left basically unattended and anything that happened was either written off as "rough play," or no one even noticed.

I stayed with Anya. I hadn't put much effort into talking to anyone that morning, it just wasn't worth the risk, but Anya seemed angry and wasn't really playful so I mostly made circles around her kicking up sand, just waiting for the day to be over.

No one bothered us, which was a blessing. Then, just as we were heading in from recess, I noticed a strange thing in the alleyway across the street.
I wandered over to the fence, as close as I could get, and I saw a shadow-like figure that kept changing shapes. It had no distinct features, and would change from having arms, to tentacles. Its face would morph in and out, and small beams of light that managed to make its way into the things path seemed to cut it, causing the creature to jump back and hiss at the light.

Right as I heard a teacher call out for me, the annoyance clear in her voice; I saw the creature's head snap towards me. I screamed and ran for the door. When I got in, the teacher pulled me to the side and scolded me for not being in line for the bell.
I tried to tell her about the creature I saw, but she wasn't having it. That's when I noticed Anya, sitting in a chair down the hall with a poute on her face. The teacher told me to go sit with Anya, and she walked into the nearest classroom.

When she came out she grabbed each of our wrists and started walking. I cried telling her it hurt, but she just kept going and brought us to the principal's office, where another angry lady was waiting with her arms crossed.

"First day and you two are already causing trouble," she glared more towards Anya, but I still felt guilty. Sure, I hadn't done anything, but no one ever listens to the 10 year old when they say that so I didn't bother this time 'round.

She went on about how Ayna had, aparently, punched a kid and when Anya tried to defend herself the principal just told her that she didn't wanna hear it. We then had to sit there as the principal called our mom and put the phone on speaker.
