Third-person POV:

Severus was reading his book, trying to escape the world by doing so. He is so focused on the book that he doesn't hear the fellow Slytherin climbing the tree until the said Slytherin speaks up, "Greetings, Severus." Though the raven-haired Slytherin was startled, he tried his best to maintain his stoic expression, and he looks up to meet Jack's eyes. "Greetings, Jackson," he replied.

Afterwards, he looks back down at his book, trying his best to ignore the blonde. However, he couldn't shake the feeling that Jack's presence was going to disrupt his quiet reading session. He couldn't shake the feeling that Jack's presence was going to disrupt his quiet reading session for the rest of the afternoon.

The golden blonde sighs and sits next to Severus, frowning when he notices the sadness in the other's eyes. He tries to smile weakly to catch Severus's attention, but the dark haired Slytherin doesn't look up from his book. The tension between them was palpable as Severus tried to focus on his book, but Jack's presence lingered in the air. Severus knew he wouldn't be able to concentrate with Jack nearby, and he silently cursed his luck for being interrupted. He wished Jack would just leave him alone, but he knew that the blonde was his only friend, as he called it.

Severus was never one to make friends, not that he didn't want to. It's because he can't find anyone who understands him. Until Lily Evans came into his life and changed everything. He finally found someone who understood him. And for that, he would be eternally grateful. The ginger-haired teen was the only one there for him when Potter was bullying him; she stood up for him always.

Until one day, he realized that he liked her more than just as a friend. He realized that he liked her more than just as a friend, and he decided to tell her how he felt. Before he could get to that part, though, Potter swooped in and told her that he had feelings for her too. From that day on, the young Gryffindor girl started to feel torn between the two boys, but she decided to put that behind them.

She never stopped being friends with Snape, however. When something tragic happened, Potter was bullying Snape, and Evans was there to stand up for him once again. But this time, he rebuffs her and calls her "mudblood," to which she gets offended, and this effectively ends their friendship. Which is why this memory is one of his most regretful and hated memories. He wishes he could take back those words and the pain he caused her. He knows that the damage is irreversible, and he can never fully mend their broken friendship.

As he thinks back to this memory, he feels a tear fall out of his eye and realizes he's crying. He snaps back to reality when he feels a pair of eyes staring at him worriedly. Jack was next to him, watching it all unfold, but he decided to stay quiet, not wanting to upset the boy further. Instead, he simply put a hand on his friend's shoulder in a gesture of comfort.

Severus looked down at the ground, feeling the weight of his emotions in his chest. He leans into his friend's touch and allows himself to finally relax for the first time in weeks. The blonde-haired boy opens his arms for the smaller boy, who accepts the invitation and buries his face in the crook of the other boy's neck.

Jack holds him tight, making the smaller boy feel safe and supported in that moment of vulnerability. As they sat there in silence, the unspoken bond between them grew stronger, solidifying their friendship even more. Their hearts beat in sync as they embraced each other, knowing that they could always rely on one another. The taller boy places his head on the raven's, which is buried in the blonde's neck. Their connection was unbreakable—a bond that would withstand any obstacle.
