"And who you might be?"

Toby's cold tone was the thing that brought Sarah out of her thoughts and into the situation at hand. Her face warmed instantly as she felt David's strong arm still curled around her waist rather possessively.

"It's none of your business." grunted David and glared at Toby. He tightened his hold on Sarah, once he felt her wiggling in his arms, trying to release herself from his hold.

"Oh, believe me, it is my business when you decide to jump right into mine." Spat Toby glaring daggers at David.

He then looked down at Sarah and clenched his fists when he saw her in his arms. Although she was trying to release herself, he could see she was not uncomfortable that much. Shy and startled yes, but not scared.

"Who is this man, Sarah?" asked Toby dryly. "Is he your boyfriend?"

Sarah's eyes grew wide for a second and she stilled. she whipped her head to look at Toby. "God, no!" she denied quickly unaware of the feeling of disappointment that surged through David's heart.

"David, please let me go. What are you doing?" she whispered shyly as she grabbed a hold of his hand that was placed on her stomach and tried to move it.

Reluctantly, David let go of her and she quickly took a step away from him. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear while her other arm wrapped around her torso protectively. Her cheeks had a beautiful shade of pink both from frustration and embarrassment, making both men adore her even more in their minds.

"I'm sorry, Toby," she spoke and threw a half glare toward David, still stunned by his sudden show of possessiveness.

Toby cleared his throat and smiled at her a bit forced. "It's okay." he replied. "So about my question. Will you?"

Both Sarah and Toby glanced at David as he let out a scoff. Sarah frowned as he saw the sneer that David was sending Toby's way, not understanding his sudden interest in her life after ignoring her for more than a week, especially her love life.

"What is your problem, dude?" Snapped Toby frustrated. "Who the hell are you?"

Putting on his famous cold and emotionless mask, David stood straighter. "I'm her fucking friend and I don't like her going on a date with you." he said in a cold monotone tone.

"A friend?" scoffed Toby and folded his arms in front of his chest. "Don't you think you are acting a bit out of friendship zone by acting like a possessive idiot?"

Sensing the bubbling anger growing in David, Sarah quickly stepped forward as David began to walk towards Toby and put a hand on his chest stopping him. He frowned and looked down at her, but was shocked to see a hard glare on her face directed at him.

It was the first time he could see anger in her always soft eyes.

"David, I would appreciate it if you would let me handle my own life." she stated firmly and clearly. "Please go inside and take Daisy. I'm sure that is why you are here, right?"

Clenching his jaw, David stared into her eyes, clearly getting her message. He knew he had crossed a line. Who was he to her, really? He wasn't her father, brother, husband, or boyfriend. He wasn't even sure if she considered him as a friend after the incident last week.

But even the thought of her going out on a date with that prick of a man or any other man, in general, was making his blood boil with rage.

He glanced up at Toby one last time before turning on his heels and walking toward the sliding doors.

Sarah watched his retreating figure. Her face seemed angry but deep inside she was so surprised by his actions. Also, she was flattered. The way he was holding her in his arms rather possessively, the way his muscular arms had wrapped around her holding her close to his chest had made her heart flutter and her mind stop functioning for a moment.
