I looked through my window. My city was lit up; it was the city that never slept. This was Zanarkand.

I checked out my appearance in the mirror. I had to make sure I looked good for my crowd tonight. It was the big game, The Jecht Memorial Cup Tournament. Named after my old man. Bleh, who cares about him anyways?

I walked through my door and saw that a small crowd was already waiting for me. They all wore smiles on their faces. Some held blitzballs and pens. It was good to be me. I walked up to a trio of small boys. Their faces shown with happiness that I was associating with them

“Can you sign this?” the boy held his ball toward me.

“No prob’” I took it and signed my name.

Tidus.

“Pleeaasse,” the second boy held his up to me. I signed the white and blue ball with a smile.

“Me too!”

“Take it easy guys,” I signed them and handed them back.

“Thanks for the autograph,” their faces beamed.

I took a look over my shoulder and saw two cute girls awaiting to have their blitzballs signed. I smiled at them and saw them blush. I was going to use my charm and obvious good looks to win a date after the game.

“Can I have your autograph?” the girl with the shoulder length brown hair asked me. Her outfit showed off her legs and stomach. She had a slim figure that I wouldn’t mind looking at more than once.

“Of course” I said to her with a sly smile.

“Good luck tonight,” the other girl said to me. She was a few inches taller than the other girl with darker skin. Her hair was dyed red which showed off her brown eyes. She wore a blue dress that ended at her knees. Double score for me.

“Nothing to worry about,” I said to her. I turned to walk away when a thought entered my mind. “Oh, if I score a goal, I’ll do this,” I held my hands up above my head and pointed to the sky, “That will mean it was for you, okay?”

The two girls giggled and blushed. The shorter one held her blitzball up to hide her face.

“What seat?” I asked innocently.

“East block, in the front row, fifth from the right,” the taller one winked at me. I returned the wink and stood back to glance at the crowd.

“Well I gotta go. Cheer for me,” I smiled and waved.

“…two, three, Teach us how to Blitz!” the three young boys had been planning this I guessed.

“Hey, I got a game to play,” I smiled and ruffled the first boy’s hair.

“Then teach us after,” the second boy pleaded.

“Maybe tonight… umm… Well..” I thought for a moment

I then heard a voice. It didn’t come from one of the boys, or anyone in the crowd. But it was there. “You can’t tonight”.

I looked over my shoulder and saw nothing, “I mean… Tomorrow,” it was weird. I had to listen to it. I had to heed what it had said.

“Promise?” the third boy asked.

“Promise!” I smiled at him.

I took off then and headed for the transporter. It would drive me to the main bridge. On the way there I pondered what the voice I had heard meant. Why not tonight? I was going to be with those girls, if I did find them that is. This was just strange. I decided I wouldn’t let it bother me.
