Smokescreen's eyes slowly open. He groans as he awakes. "Where am I?" he asked aloud. The cell's door opens and the Decepticon twins walk through. The door closes behind them. Smokescreen sees their decepticon insignia and begins to panic.

"It is alright," Dreadwing tells him. "We aren't here to hurt you."

"Where am I?!" Smokescreen demanded in a fearful tone. "Who are you?!"

"You are aboard the Nemesis," Sky Quake answers. "I am Sky Quake; this is my twin Dreadwing."

"Twins?" Smokescreen echoes.

"Yes," Dreadwing answers.

"Umm, why haven't you killed me yet?" The con twins' eyes widen to the sparkling's question. "Or why haven't you interrogated me?"

"We do not wish to harm you," Dreadwing informed him.

"R-really...?" Smokescreen asked shakily.

"Yes. We do not wish to harm you," Dreadwing responded.

"But ..." Smokescreen started, "then why was a room filled with autobot sparklings found dead?!" The twins glanced at each other in confusion.

"That cannot be so," Sky Quake said surely.

"IT IS SO!" Smokescreen yelled in rage. "A SQUAD FOUND A ROOM FILLED WITH AUTOBOT SPARKLINGS! AND THEY WERE ALL DEAD!" Smokescreen couldn't hide the tears streaming down his face. The memory hunted him. Seeing sparkling covered and knowing they were dead had always traumatized him. He had seen corpses before, but to see a sparkling body was unbearable.

"We had no idea," Sky Quake told him.

"I saw them ..." Smokescreen wiped the tears away. He didn't hear what Sky Quake had said. "I saw them cover. But I knew it was sparklings underneath. My two father figures told him to stay in my room until they had buried them." More tears streamed down his face. The twins looked upon Smokescreen with pain entering their sparks. "I thought ... I thought that not all you decepticons weren't monsters." Dreadwing and Sky Quake eyes widen to Smokescreen's words. "I was so ... wrong."

"We ..." Dreadwing couldn't see how to tell him the Decepticons weren't monsters. "Sky Quake," Dreadwing began. Sky Quake turned to him, and Smokescreen looked up. "We need to find theses monstrous decepticons!" Dreadwing's voice was raised, and he didn't notice it. "NO SPARKLING SHOULD DIE! THEY SHOULD ALL LIVE UP TO ADULTHOOD!"

"Agreed. But ... what about him?" Sky Quake inquired. The twins turned to Smokescreen. Their faces filled with concerned. "If those cold killers are abord this ship-" He closed his eyes trying not to imagine Smokescreen's corpse.

Dreadwing knew that was possible. "Then one of us will stay here," he tells his twin. "I will look for these sparkless decepticons."

Are they really willing to protect me? Smokescreen wondered. Dreadwing left the cell, but Sky Quake remained. "Why do you and your twin want to protect me?"

Sky Quake walked over and sat next to the young sparkling. He sighed. "Because we lost our parents and little sister." Sky Quake gazed upward. "And it's what our parents taught us."

"What happened to them?"
