Nightmare

It was the middle of the night in the Nichols-Parker household.

In Drake and Josh's room, Drake was tossing and turning in his sleep, he was having a nightmare.

He shot up in his bed and started hyperventilating.

Josh woke up startled awake by Drake.

He got up and turned around to see Drake sitting up in his bed, looking scared.

Josh, asked Drake in a hushed tone. "Drake, what happened? Are you okay?"

Drake was embarrassed that Josh was seeing him in such a vulnerable state, he tried to deny anything was wrong. "N-nothing dork, go back to sleep!"

Josh wasn't backing down, he walked up to the latter to Drake's bed and climbed up, walking next to his bed and sitting on the edge.

"Clearly there's something wrong if you're hyperventilating at like three am." Josh brought up.

Drake didn't know what to say to that, he was right.

He looked away from his step brother. "Um, well don't worry about it."

"Drake..." He said in a stern voice.

Drake felt like he had to tell the truth after hearing that tone in Josh's voice. "I-I just had a nightmare. Now leave me alone!"

"What was it about?" He asked.

"None of your business, circle! Now go back to bed!" He yelled quietly. (A/N Inside joke between my bf and I lol)

Josh sighed. "Alright, night."

Josh went back to his bed and laid down.

Drake sighed and whimpered softly, he was thinking about what to do.

His sheets and clothes were all soaked cause he had an accident in his sleep, but he didn't want anyone finding out, especially with how much he tried acting like a tough boy.

He got up and took the sheets off the bed, thinking that Josh wasn't going to wake up again and see him, but boy was he wrong.

As he was dragging the sheets across their room Josh woke up and stood in his bed again.

"Drake, what are you doing?" He asked, in a tired voice.

Drake startled, then shouted before saying. "I thought you were asleep!"

"Dude, just cause I'm laying down doesn't mean I drifted off into sleep." Josh said.

Drake was kind of embarrassed, not only at this situation but the fact he didn't think that through. "Oh uhhh, well go back to bed!"

Josh suddenly noticed the sheets Drake was dragging on the floor and his wet clothes and asked. "Drake, what are you carrying?"

Drake's eyes grew wide in shock, he was scrambling to think of an excuse. "Um, I uh... I just spilled a bunch of soda all over my bed."

That was a lie if Josh ever heard one. "Are you sure about that?"

Drake just sheepishly nodded.

Josh got up and walked over to him. "Drake, why does this smell funny?"

That's when Drake broke down into tears and started to confess. "D-don't tell anyone, okay?"

Josh began trying to calm him down. "Hey hey, it's okay."

Drake sniffed. "Please don't be mad or make fun of me."

Josh gave him a reassuring smile. "I would never, we're brothers."

They kind of just stood there in silence for a moment before Drake awkwardly asked. "C-can you help me? I don't know how to do laundry."

"Sure thing."

A bit later the two were back upstairs from the laundry room, Drake had on new clean clothes that he changed into in the bathroom.

Drake didn't want to be alone tonight, he was still kind of scared from the nightmare, so he said. "Josh..."

Josh shifted his attention back at him. "Yeah?"

"Um, can I sleep with you?" He asked, sheepishly.

Josh couldn't say no to that face. "Of course, come on."

The two boys laid down on Josh's bed.

Before they went to sleep, Josh decided to try and ask one more time.

"Drake?"

"Hm?"

Josh just went ahead and asked it. "Are you sure you don't wanna talk about what the nightmare was about?"

Drake sighed, he had to say it didn't be?

"It was about my biological father." He answered, simply.

Josh knew what he meant in a way, he didn't know that much about the man but knew that he was abusive. "I'm so sorry, Drake."

"Why? Are you him?"

"You get what I mean." Josh answered simply.

"Alright, well good night." Drake said.

"Night."
