~ flocculent raindrops~
She stared across the darkened room lit by an array of vivid colours and luminous lights dancing across the room, The air hung heavy, and was littered with the aroma of cheap booze and hormonal teenagers.
Rosa meekly moved towards the beverage table, quickly taking a cup of what she hoped was liquid courage, she stood there a lone figure amongst the blithesome silhouettes behind her, wondering what exactly she was doing in a party with so many unknown faces, how she had been separated from the group she couldn't tell. So she stood, lingering, hoping for someone, anyone to get her out of there.
she jumped, startled, as the couple next to her began to writhe against each other in time with the provocative music. She swiftly walked away. "Excuse me" she whispered pushing her way through the maddening throng, trying to get as far away from the more than eager duo.
Her whole complexion lit up when she saw Noah strolling towards her, she couldn't seem to get enough of him, from his brownish hair to his emerald green eyes, she drank in his appearance like a parched hermit. A warm heat stained her cheeks. Seeing him was enough to release a mass of fluttering butterflies, pitter patterning across her insides
Shaking her head slightly she turned her head just as Noah stood in front of her. He softly caressed her cheek, and gently taking a hold of her chin inclined her face towards his. "Let's get some air, " and with that he took a hold of her hand and lulled her out into the garden, Rosa didn't put up any resistance, the mere fact that she was holding his hand was enough to turn her mind into mush.
It was unusually cold for a May night, the sky was clear and the quiet twilight tainted by the twinkling of the stars painted a perfect backdrop for the two lovers. On the spur of the moment Rosa flung her arms, stretched out to her sides and pivoted laughing in utter glee, Noah wrapped his arms around her as he stared into her glistening eyes and slowly lowered his head to softly kiss her stained lips.
It then began to rain. Rosa pulled away from Noah and began to twirl around in the rain laughing and urging Noah to join her, the droplets fell from her nose and soaked her light dress but she didn't care. She had just been kissed and wanted to shout it out loud.
Taking a hold of Noah's hands she began to engage him in her dance across the garden, the loud thumping from the house behind them didn't seem to deter her from waltzing. Then she stopped. Facing Noah she looked deep into his eyes and leaned in to kiss him, "I love you" he said.
He reached into his back pockets and pulled out a small bracelet, he placed it around Rosa's wrist and held it up to admire the way it glimmered and contrasted against her ebony skin. "You didn't have to get me anything silly," Noah laughed and simply replied with, "Happy birthday sweetheart," before briefly kissing her nose.
He grabbed her by the waist and twirled her around, her small gasp of surprise was quickly swallowed by another kiss.
The deluge of rain continued to fall, but the twosome paid it no heed as they stood, lost in their lovers embrace.
