We were strolling in the park when we reached this beautiful picnic where the birds were chirping and the sun had just been calm, not too bright or too dark. I asked him , "Is this for me?" Chase replied with a smile on his face, "Of course it is." I sat down on the bench when he took something from his pocket; it was a ring.
He said, "I love you, and I always hope to be there for you and cherish our whole life together. I want to grow old with you, have kids with you,buy our first house together, and you make me feel loved. That's what I have been searching for my whole life, and when I found you, I knew the search was over. Cassie O'Neill, will you marry me?"
He finally proposed, and after all the waiting for 5 years, he did it. I feel so happy and blessed at the same time. I'm sure we had our ups and downs, but we are nearing the end of our first chapter. At the moment, I couldn't control myself and started bursting into tears, saying, Of course I will marry you, Chase. I called my parents and shared the good news; they didn't seem very happy for me, which is very unusual since they like and have a great relationship with Chase.
Chase and I decided to share the news with his family in person, and we headed over to their house. We reached them, and they were waiting for us. Chase and his family had arranged a surprise engagement ceremony or party for us. His family was thrilled for me to be a part of their family. My parents reached out after us; they already knew Chase had asked for my father's blessings and to be at the party.
My friends Ginny and Lisa all knew about Chase's plan and wanted to surprise me. I took a champagne glass, toasted the happy occasion, and thanked everyone for being here and for the wonderful surprise.
I asked my sister Rebeca to be my maid of honor and my friends to be the bride's maid. Chase asked my brother to be his best man. They knew each other since middle school, so Chase and Mike were pretty close.
We said our goodbyes and left the party. Chase asked me to drive since he had too much champagne to drink. He fell asleep as soon as I started the car. It was a bit tiring from the day, so I wanted to get home early when I suddenly heard all the dogs barking on the road and the wind gushing. Then a woman appeared in the middle of the road. I stopped the car before I could hit her, but she disappeared.
Chase woke up from the sudden break. He asked, "What happened? Are you ok?" I said, Yeah, I'm fine, just a dog, and kept on driving. We reached home, and the lights started flickering. It seemed so unusual since we just moved in a couple of months ago and checked the wiring and all. I asked Chase to look into it.
I freshened up and went to bed. I couldn't sleep from all the excitement of planning a wedding and being Mrs.Smith. I woke up, and Chase made me breakfast since I can't cook at all. He said there's nothing wrong with the lights, but then, just to be safe, he called the maintenance guy. Chase left for work, and I took the day off. We live in a pretty good neighborhood, and the neighbors are friendly.Rebecca was staying with us for a few days in the guest bedroom since, she and her boyfriend were having a fight yesterday, so I asked how she was doing. She said fine. We went out to brunch with my parents. My parents were acting a bit sketchy, so I asked them, Are you not happy for me? My mother, with a tensed look, replied, Of course we are, but there are some things about our family you should know before getting married.
