Silver's POV
I got up to the sound of my vibrating phone. I looked at the message, it was from Sonic.
'How'd it go?' It read. I had gotten home late and I was extremely tired; but I answered anyway.
'Great... I only got to see Shadow for two minutes.' I replied. I dropped my face back into my pillow. I automatically heard another buzz.
"Argh!" I groaned.
Later that day when I was talking a stroll, I noticed Shadow walked by.I heard his metal shoes clicking, it became louder... I knew he was coming back to me. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked back.
"Silver..." I heard him say. "Sorry for disappearing last night, I had some business to attend." He said.
"That's alright... I couldn't enjoy the party without you; you're the one who actually invited me." I said. He smiled.
"Sorry... Oh, um...I forgot to give you this." He said handing over a small box with a ribbon, it had holes all over it. "I forgot to give him to you yesterday." He said.
"Th-Thanks..." I said blushing. I pulled the ribbon and opened the box. A small white chao with teal blue at the tip of his hands and feet was revealed. The blue also covered the little bunny rabbit ear shaped antennas, along with a blue halo. His little clear wings let a little trail of pixie dust as he moved them. He was still sitting in the box looking up at me.
"Do you like him?" He asked.
"Like him? I love him! He's so adorable!" I said scratching the chāo's head. He gave a cute giggle. "Thanks Shadow, I don't know how to thank you enough..." I said and hugged him. I smiled during the hug, but noticed Shadow wasn't wrapping his arms around me. I broke away. "S-Sorry..."
He cleared his throat and rubbed the black of his neck, blushing brightly. "That's alright..." He said looking away.
"Sooo-" We both said at the same time.
"I'm sorry." I told him.
"No, you go ahead first." Was what he said. It was quiet, even the little chāo gave a cute little sigh of boredom.
"Do you want to hang around tomorrow?" I asked him. He looked at me.
"Sure... Where at?" I asked him.
"What about at the top of Green Hill?" I asked him.
"Sounds good." He responded. "What time?" He asked me.
"What about at seven when the sun's setting?" I asked.
"Alright." He said. His phone made a ding ding noise. "Hey um, I've gotta go, but I'll see you tomorrow." He said. "Oh and one more thing. Chāos get attached to you, after a day or so they bond with you and they'll never leave you alone... They form a relationship with their owners." He said.
"Thanks for the info. See ya tomorrow!" I waved at him, he was already far away. I looked down at the cute little bundle of joy. He flew up to my face touching it with his chubby little hands. He giggled cutely. His little wings left a trail of what seemed pixie dust. "You're so cute. I wonder if Shadow has a chāo... Hmm..." I put a finger to my chin.
Next Day...
Shadow's POV
Well, today's the day. I looked in the mirror making sure my quills were not that messy. I got a text. I looked at it. It was from Silver.
'Hey make sure to bring your chāo, if you have one. My chāo seems lonely without a friend.' Was what he said. I smiled at the text.
'Of course I have one. I'll bring him too. Oh, and make sure to bring a bottle of bubbles just in case. Chāos love bubbles; plus it keeps them entertained.' I texted.
'Thanks for the tip. See you in a while crocodile.' Maria used to say something like that. I'd tell her something in return, but I don't remember... It was something that had to do with the words later... Oh!
"Later alligator.' I responded. I put the phone down.
Silver's POV
My phone vibrated. 'Later alligator.' The text from Shadow read. I squeaked, I can't believe he answered that last one!
"Hey Sonic, Shadow answered the last one!" I told him. He put his comic book down.
"That's a new one. Usually he doesn't know about that stuff, since you know he's no fun. The chāo was a surprise too." He said petting the small chāo's head.
"He also gave me some advice on chāos, they love bubbles." I told him.
"I swear something strange is going on with that hedgehog. He's never open like that." He said.
"Maybe he had a change of heart." I told him. He laughed.
"I'm not sure we're talking about the same demon here." He said.
"Don't you dare call him that. Shadow is a good friend, you just gotta give him time to show you." I told him. I looked down. "He's actually pretty shy and sweet."
"Shadow? Nah, he's heartless." Sonic said putting his face back into his comic book.
"Say what you want about him, but he's not a bad guy after all..." I mumbled.
"What are you gonna name this little guy?" He said still petting the chāo.
"I don't know, something nice... Like Snowball." I told him.
"Yeah, that's good one." He said.
"Shadow said he had one too. I wonder what he named it?" I asked Sonic.
"Probably like Death or Demon or something demonic like that." He said still looking at his comic.
"Well, it's about that time so I got to go, come on Snowball!" The chāo was already used to his new name and flew to me. I grabbed a bottle of bubbles.
Shortly after arriving, I saw Shadow chaos control at the hill.
"Oh, hey Shadz..." I said.
"Shadz?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's your new name." I told him. He blushed.
"Oh...well, I like it." He said rubbing the back of his neck.
"Where's your chāo?" I asked him. His ears perked up.
"Oh! Here he is." Shadow said and a black little chāo with red at his chubby hands and feet with a little devil tail and red bat wings; he also had a spiky red ball at the end of the zig-zagged antenna hid behind Shadow's legs. "Come on Echo." He said. Snowball flew to the ground and landed on the soft grass.
He walked over to Echo. Echo flew over to the other side of Shadow's legs to hide from Snowball.
"Sorry, he's not usually that shy." Shadow said. I smiled.
"That's okay Shadz..."
