Chapter 18: Ash in Turf

Underneath the waters of Inkadia, the S.S. Harland managed to pass the Great Storm Barrier without any problems this time. Our heroes have finally returned to the Inkadia Region, so the Squid Sisters can start reaching their goals on the journey they, along with Ash and Pikachu, are going on. The ship quickly switches to boat mode and docks at a harbor in Inkopolis Bay.

Callie is the first one to board off the ship. "Alright! We're finally back home!"

Soon, everyone else boards off the ship, and Ash takes a deep breath of the fresh air of Inkadia. "Here we are, buddy, our second trip to the Inkadia Region! We didn't really get to explore that much after last time!"

"Let's head to the Dome Arena right now!" Callie then quickly runs ahead.

"Callie! Wait!" Shouted Marie, then she goes after her.

Ash is ready to follow, but he feels he needs to tell Friede. "Are you and Orla coming with us?"

Friede gives Ash a smile. "You all go on ahead and do what you came here to do. Me and Pikachu got some exploring and research to do of this region. After all, I am a professor, and I'm planning to create a whole map of this new region."

"Alright, see you all later!" Then Ash runs off to catch up with the cousins, with Pikachu, Quaxly, and Charcadet following behind.

They were taking a shortcut to the other end of the bay in Inkopolis Square. Soon, Ash and Pikachu caught up to the girls at the square, but something was up. There were construction workers hanging up decorations and lights everywhere, and there were Inklings and Octolings observing them and happily taking pictures.

"I wonder what everyone is preparing for, Pikachu?" Wondered Ash, but his question was soon answered as the big screen on Deca Tower led up.

Soon, three figures showed up on the screen.

"Listen up! It's going down... Repping the Splatlands, we are Deep Cut!" Shouted the Blue Octoling.

"Anarchy Splatcast! We're live!" Shouted the Yellow Inkling.

"Ay! (Here we go!)" Said what looked like some sting ray creature.

Ash was curious about who these people are. "Wow, who are these guys!"

"I actually don't know." Marie said as these idols were unfamiliar to her.

Then, they all turn their attention back to the screen.

"Ay! (All of you fresh kids out there... Don't forget to choose which team you'll be on in tonight's Splatfest!)" Said the sting ray creature.

"Which one's the best! Rock, Paper, or Scissors!" Said the Octoling.

"Yes! We'll know which one is the all-time winner! So be sure you all give it everything you have!" Said the Inkling.

Before the screen went off, both the Inkling and the Octoling stood up and did their catchphrase. "Catch ya later!"

Ash was interested in what's going on. "Wow, that looks like fun. What's a Splatfest?"

Callie was happy to answer his question. "Oh! A Splatfest is an event where people can choose between multiple teams revolving around a theme based on an idea, place, or thing!"

"Although there were originally two teams, but now there's three. You can pick a team at the Splatfest terminal over there." Marie said as she pointed at the terminal in the corner.

Suddenly, Ash runs towards the terminal, wanting to vote for a side. "I may not be competing, but I definitely want to vote for Team Scissors!"

"Who even votes in Splatfest if their not even competing...." Said an unknown voice from behind them.
