TW this chapter contains references to suicide and very slightly implied abuse.

Also, if Seth keeps stuttering, blame it on him and not me. His way of talking is UwU I-I-I-I hate social interactions......because it fits his character so I hope it doesn't annoy you too much (Please don't find it annoying, I like sharing my oc lore.)

________________________________________________________________________________

It was way too early to mourn over his fate, and yet the sun never rose between the tree branches to signify it. Seth therefore found himself wishing he wasn't holding guns only to sell them, but also to end his own life.

He never believed that he would be able to join his beloved in the depths of hell. He couldn't reach the paradise where his conquest was, and he never even believed in its existence. The seller behind the counter wished it could've been a collective death where he would've seen their face one last time. But it was too late, way too late. He could only die alone. He forgot what his lover's face looked like.

In fact, Seth forgot too many faces. From the strangers he would never see again, his customers who only cared about his weapons, his past love who brought sunshine into his life where the trees wanted to hide it, to his own mother.

For the entirety of his fucked up life, Seth had lived with only a father in a less then favorable home. For unknown reasons that were up for hypothesis, his mother escaped her new founded family. The only thing remaining of her previous visit in the forest was the shop Seth worked at.

Sure, he could have secured the chances of never seeing his father again by moving far away from the forest. After all, that simple thought made him want to throw up. But Seth adamantly refused to lose the battle against his fear, which would mean abandoning what's left of his mother and the cozy house of his sweetheart, Maya. He would've rather died than abandon what he held dear.

Yet another client opened the wooden door. Seth ignored his blatant eyebags and lifted his head up slightly to continue his work. He never was the master of social interactions, far from that. But each time a customer would walk past the door, he would remind himself of his mother. A woman with brown skin and lighter purple hair walked with assurance to the counter. She pressed her elbows against the table.

-Sir, you don't have the legal rights to be the owner of this shop.

Seth's eyes widened curiously as the words were spoken. He could feel the drips of sweat trickling down his face. Seth couldn't afford to lose this shop, it would be like loosing his mother again.

-W-what? How so?

-This is my shop, named after my family's legacy. You are therefore not allowed to do your business here. I'm kindly asking you to leave.

-B-but that's impossible! My mother was the owner of this shop! I swear on my life!

-What's your last name then?

Seth brutally grinded his teeth at the thought of mentioning the last name he cursed. His gray eyes scrupulated the ground as his dusty purple fringe swayed down.

-Hemsworth.

-Hemsworth...?

The lady's face looked dubious. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Her mouth opened like she was trying to say something but it closed, only to open again and she finally uttered a word.

-Is your name perhaps...Malic?

He tilted his head.

-M-Malic? W-well kinda...It's my second name. My full name is Seth Malic Hemsworth.

The room became filled with an uncomfortable silence. The woman scrupulously looked at the boy in front of her while he obsessively focused on the floor.

-I think you're my son.

-W-what?!

He stood tight with his head lifting up. That affirmation was so blunt that Seth was wondering if it was just another hallucination. He couldn't have heard that right. It was his turn to blankly stare at the woman in front of him. This woman couldn't be his mother, impossible. Sure, her hair color was similar to Seth, her short height was also something to note, the bandages around her scars could be from an abusive husband, but there was no way that she was his mother.

Impossible.

-Well...have a good day, sir.

But even if it was impossible, he couldn't let that woman go. Not like that. He gulped as a scream formed in his throat, right when she turned her back.

-W-WAIT!

-Seth, I'm sorry that we had to meet again that way, but I made my choice. I don't want to associate with you or your father ever again. I have a family now, a real one. I can't come back. I hope you understand.

Seth's whole body trembled at the words. Tears formed in his eyes and he hid his sobs with his hand, like he was trying to cover what he considered to be a shameful pain. The way those words were spoken could only come from his own mother. Her words dripped from experience and she clearly wanted to let him know that her decision was final. But what she said didn't stop Seth from running towards his mother and hugging her tightly from behind before she even had the chance to walk out of the store.

-P-PLEASE! D-don't leave me! I-I-I'll do anything. I want to spend time with you. I-I just want you as my mom!

More so than usual, Seth couldn't form a sentence without stumbling on his words. The tears in his eyes dropped on his mother's shirt, tinting it a darker shade of magenta.

-Seth, I told you--

-P-PLEASE! I-I just want to spend time with you. T-to spend time with my mom, that's all i'm asking for.

Seth was used to brutal emotional changes in the matter of seconds, but it had never been this strong. He found what he had searched for years and years in a matter of seconds, just like that. If she left, Seth was certain that he would end up killing himself in the next hours. His last hope for a better future being gone in an instance sounded like the worst thing that could ever happen to him. His mom could feel his heart beating at the speed of light against her back.

-I don't know...I never even planned on seeing you again.

-Y-you didn't...?

-Sorry.

Another sob escaped Seth's mouth, this one he couldn't hide. As if to interrupt that same sob and silence it, she continued her sentence.

-But...I suppose you could come visit my new home if you want to. Just don't expect too much familiarity from me. Don't consider me as your mother, consider me as your acquaintance. We're both adults now after all.

Seth's heart was impossibly beating even faster. His dull eyes sparkled in the darkness of the store. He had finally let go of his mother and stared at the floor like he always did instead of facing gazes.

-I-I...uh...i'm still fifteen but yeah, i'd REALLY like to come to your new house if it means i'm spending time with you. I-I'm really lonely here and it freaks me out and...uh...I-I just love you so much since you're my mom-- I mean... It's kinda like dad, right? He's kind of a dick but I can't say I hate him.

The words he spurted were barely audible in between his frantic breathing. However, his mom did manage to understand each of them.

-Right...

Her hatred only grew more at the mention of her former husband, and it only became stronger after being compared to him. She didn't even have the time to feel embarrassed by the fact that she didn't remember her son's age. Her face appeared neutral, but as cold as ice. Seth saw his mom turn her back to him for the second time and she successfully walked out of the door without any interruption. But unlike what she had previously planned, Seth followed her rapidly outside.

A big red truck was parked in front of the shop, and considering the fact that Seth's mother was walking towards it, he assumed it was her own. She pulled out sharp golden car keys out of her white pockets and stared back at Seth behind her.

-Get in.
