"By the way, I tried to say I know you from before"

-By the Way, the Red Hot Chili Peppers

For the second time in less than twenty-four hours, Miles Morales's lungs were about to give out. His arms pumped and his legs worked as he turned corners, raced around pedestrians, and dodged traffic whenever he sprinted across a road.

He lifted his eyes, continuing to pant as he saw exactly what he'd been running towards: an apartment complex, with a noticeable hole on its exterior.

That CERTAINLY has nothing to do with what I'm running after... Miles thought sarcastically, trying to find some humor in the situation despite the chill running down his spine at the sight of the damaged building. But that hole in the wall had to have been caused by Gwen... she had just lost control to the symbiote (again), and the apartment was Felicia's.

The symbiote had wrestled back control from Gwen that morning as soon as it heard of a potential threat... just like it had last night when Miles and Gwen had been talking about Anti-Venom. What exactly these similarities meant were beyond Miles.

I'll ask Gwen later, he thought to himself. After I finally get that stupid thing off of her...!!

At last, Miles reached Felicia's apartment building. People had already gathered around to see what was going on up above, and he started making his way through the crowd.

"Excuse me... heads up... Spider-Man's got a FastPass to get to the front of the line!!" He spoke loudly, the crowd making a noise of surprise and parting as they saw the city's new vigilante make his way towards the apartment wall. Miles took a running leap, his hands and feet sticking to the wall before he began to scale the building hastily.

"Come on, Gwen..." Miles muttered to himself as he drew near the gaping hole in the side of Felicia's apartment. "...Fight it off!!"

As he pulled himself up to where Felicia lived, the sight he saw immediately made his blood run cold-Gwen had Felicia pinned to the ground, strangling her as the brunette's movements grew slower and slower.

Miles got his feet on the floor, then charged at Gwen. He tackled her off of Felicia, causing the two superhumans to roll over each other as Felicia gasped for air.

"Ugh-" The brunette coughed violently, then let her head fall back to the floor. "-Thanks for stopping by." She grumbled, wheezing as her lungs began taking in oxygen again.

"Don't mention it." Miles replied, sitting up in an effort to get to his feet. But a clawed hand slashed at his shoulder, causing him to push backwards to avoid getting ripped open. "Whoa, whoa, whoa-!!" He shouted, scrambling to his feet as a horrid clicking noise left Gwen's throat. "Tackling does not make it reasonable to use deadly force-"

"Sorry to disappoint," the symbiote growled, her voice having that eerie double-tone to it.

Great, it really has a hold on her again, Miles thought to himself as he studied Gwen's augmented form. Her spiked shoulders, toothed cowl, and dangerous-looking giant tongue were all signs that the symbiote was having its way with Gwen for the time being.

"You're really just not the cooperative type, huh?" Miles told the symbiote, which hissed in response.

"We are cooperation incarnate... WE are GWENOM." The symbiote insisted.
