Welcome to a new oneshot story that came out from my merch shrine! Literally. I posted a tiktok about how my merch looked like an actual plot story and people were hyping the idea up so here it is! I kind of twisted the idea a little, and added some angst that wasn't originally planned but overall it's angst with happy ending I guess? I don't know anymore at this point, I might have cooked and burnt the kitchen.
Anyway, enjoy!

The young man with purple hair was fighting with his own thoughts in his bed. His lover had been away from home for a few days and would come back later in the evening that day from a book convention where he had presented his newest story, which he wrote with his best friend, who was there with him as well. And who was the man's lover's best friend? The man's soulmate, apparently, by the way their string of fate was attached to them both.
The moment they saw their string of fate, when they both finally turned twenty-one, they talked about it together with the man's lover and the soulmate's lover as well. It was a serious conversation to have as they didn't want to lose the bonds they had with one another. And neither of the soulmates were in love with the other at the time, two years before this story took place. One was in love with the best friend, and the other was in love with a detective.
Everything was perfectly settled, they were both fine not being in love with each other, as they still were good friends anyway. That's how everything went for a year following that decision.
Until the detective died on a mission out of the city, and the man was left alone, his soulmate and their lover being the only comfort he was able to receive. And this is how the trio grew even closer to one another, living together in the same apartment, the purple man who was currently battling with his head and his lover sleeping in one room, his soulmate in another.
But now, two years after they had decided not to act on their string of fate, the purple man, who's name was Uki Violeta, came to the realisation that he had fallen in love with his soulmate, Ike Eveland.
Don't get him wrong, he was still very much in love with his lover, Fulgur Ovid, but his heart had decided to give two parts of itself to two different person. He couldn't do anything about that, however. He didn't want to break his relationship with Fulgur, nor did he want to risk ruining his friendship or Fulgur's friendship with Ike.
What was he supposed to do, now?

The grey-haired writer had to step out of his shared hotel room to walk into the shower area to clear his head. This was their last day away from home, they were left with some free-time around the convention before the departure of their plane, but he couldn't bring himself to face his best friend. Ever since waking up that morning, he could feel a weird, foreign pull on his pinky finger, driving him towards the said man.
The man, Fulgur, was a rare exception to the string of fate rule: he had none attached to him. He didn't know what it actually felt like to be tied to someone the way his lover and best friend were tied to each other. But they had told him about it. They had told him how they would feel some sort of pull towards each other whenever they were physically close to each other, like when they were both at home, for instance.
Of course, Fulgur thought this pull would be uncomfortable, but they swore it had become a comforting feeling to them. But now he truly couldn't see how this felt comforting when he felt that strange pull towards his best friend who was already tied to his lover.
How come he got a string of fate now, and not two years before that when he turned 21 like the other two? Sure he had been developing romantic feelings for his best friend over the past year - ever since Ike moved in with them - but he had decided to stay in pure denial of that fact.
